President of the MDC Alliance, Nelson Chamisa has called on the government to reverse the 2% tax introduced by Finance Minister, Mthuli Ncube. Mr Chamisa was speaking at a Press conference at Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House on Tuesday 23 October 2018.
The opposition leader blamed the current economic crisis on lack of leadership, fiscal indiscipline and a legitimacy crisis emanating from 31 July election fraud.
He also called for dialogue that will result in a National Transitional Authority (NTA) with neutral players to put the country back on the path to legitimacy.
The opposition leader said that he is not interested in an inclusive government with President Mnangagwa whom he deemed as illegitimate, but rather in a long term solution which will see Zimbabwe on the path to prosperity.
Chamisa also called on President Mnangagwa to take responsibility for the current mess and relinquish his government to make way for a transitional authority.
He also vowed that the MDC anniversary celebrations will be held this weekend on the 27th of October with or without police approval. Public gatherings have been banned by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) following the Cholera Outbreak.
