Say goodbye to saying your long goodbyes to loved ones and lingering about at the airport as you watch them go because this time you might be fined for it. You might not even be allowed to get out of the car!
The Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport now allegedly bears a cautionary sign to that effect. The sign is said to emphasise that only travelling passengers are allowed to get out of the car. Should a non-passenger disregard this, the ZRP will purportedly ensure that they are handed a Level 1 fine which currently sits at a speculated ZWL200, payable at the Airport Police Station.

Instead of being accompanied to checkout by family, the passenger might be expected to go alone while the family or friends wait in the car if they wish to do so. After all processes are complete, the traveller can return to the car for final goodbyes to avoid being caught in the wrong.
This alleged move might have just robbed us of the joy of accompanying our kin to the airport, however, it is might just be a necessary measure in sight of the Covid-19 situation. It would serve to limit as much as possible exposure between airport staff and the public.
