Its that time of the year again when we all write down our goals for the year. It won’t even come as a surprise to me if more than half of of the world’s population has a fitness goal on their list of resolutions. To help with that goal we’ve decided to share just 3 simple habits that will go a long way in your fitness/weight loss journey.
Starving Old Habits
It goes without saying that the majority of us are unfit because of some bad habits we keep falling victim to. So to make it easy to achieve your fitness/weight loss goals we need to make it difficult to continue doing the bad habits.
Here’s 3 simple ways to starve the bad habits:
- Store Unhealthy Foods Out Of Sight
Its easy to keep eating unhealthy foods when they’re easily accessible in your home. Studies have also shown that storing unhealthy foods where you can see them increases hunger and cravings and will cause you to eat more.
So if you must buy unhealthy/high calorie foods, make sure to store them where you’re not always seeing them.
Keep healthy foods visible eg fruit bowls on the countertop and in the centre of your fridge. When you do this you are more likely to reach out for something healthy when you are hungry.
2. Use Smaller Plates For Unhealthy Foods
Eating any unhealthy foods (if you must) in smaller plates will create the illusion that the portion is large and trick your brain into eating less.
You can also use these mind games to your advantage by serving healthy foods in large plates.
3. Chew Thoroughly And Eat Slowly
No processes take place in your body without the brain’s involvement. When it comes to eating, the brain needs time to process that it has had enough so if you eat too fast you might end up eating more than you need to be full. This is because you wouldn’t have given your brain time to register that you’re full.
Whatever diets you might choose to implement, the above 3 tips will help make it easy to not revert to old unhealthy habits like eating too much, eating too fast or eating junk.
All the best with your fitness goal.
