The pressure on designers across the board to design or create something new and innovative is at an all time high. The following gadgets are the most weird we have come across.
- The HushMe
This device looks like a cross between tapping your mouth shut and some weird looking futuristic headphones. It’s designed to block the sound of your phone calls in public. The idea is that you place the HushMe, which connects to your phone, around your mouth—with connected headphones for audio. You can then take your calls without dealing with eavesdropping. I’m not giving you any ideas, but we all have those odd phone calls we do not want people to hear.
- The Pavlok
The Pavlok is a wrist band that is designed to help you break bad habits. The band actually gives you a small and safe electric shock every time you are about to give into a bad habit. It is often used for weight loss, quitting smoking, and breaking other common bad habits. Definitely weird but very useful.
- The Moodmetric Smart Ring
This device is designed to both monitor your feelings and help you manage your emotions. The ring can connect to your smartphone, and can apparently identify which emotions you are feeling at any given time. Talk about anger management!
- Countertop Composter
The countertop composter is a device that turns your food scraps into compost. Although I don’t know who would want to make compost on their kitchen countertop. And I can imagine emptying it would be a mess. There are electric versions that turn the scrap into odorless compost but the price goes all the way up to 700USD. I guess it’s useful if you wouldn’t like to go through the tedious process of digging a hole in the backyard.
- UV Toothbrush Sanitizer
This is the OCD dream. If you worry about your toothbrush being exposed to germs or if any one tempered with it whilst you were away, this is the gadget. You simply turn the UV light on and when time’s up, the case returns to being a simple shield for your toothbrush!
