As we approach the Easter holidays, the government is very cautious of the probable rise in the risk of Covid-19 infections. In keeping with Easter practices, people flock in their numbers to church services and other related celebratory gatherings. Others take this opportunity to travel long distances to be with friends and family they wouldn’t otherwise be able to be with due to work schedules. Resultantly, necessary measures have been taken by the government to reduce the risk of infections and safeguard the nation during this period.
To avoid a 3rd wave of the pandemic the government has set in place the following restrictions for the duration of the Easter holidays from 2 April 2021 to 5 April 2021:
- Travellers coming into the country will be be required to undergo valid Covid-19 PCR tests within 48 hours from the time of their departure for Zimbabwe. Those without will be quarantined for 10 days at designated hotels at their own cost.
- Boarders will not be allowed to travel back home for the holidays.On the other hand, parents will not be allowed to visit their boarding school children..
- Bars and Night clubs will remain closed during this period.
- Gatherings including church services or family functions will be restricted to only 50 persons.
- It will remain mandatory to wear masks and keep social distanced.
- As vaccination is still ongoing, people are encouraged to go to their vaccination centres to receive this vaccine.
- Unneccesarry travel outside localities of residence is not encouraged.
- Those with valid negative Covid-19 PCR certificates will be expected to self quarantine at home for 10 days from their arrival date.
- Tourists can be vaccinated at their own cost in the country if they wish to do so.
