The artist doesn’t say much in the very long statement besides that he is sorry and he will not do it again. He did not apologise to any people who were hurt. He did not explain the reasons why he failed to perform. He also does not say anything about refunds for people that paid for tickets.

People did not hesitate to express their discontent and some even went to the extent of saying they will not be attending any of his shows again. Two comments were particularly interesting. One man called George Nyatsuro (picture below) on Facebook commented under the apology and he talked about replacing a PA System and stage that were hired on the day of the show but were trashed when angry fans violently protested Killer T’s failed appearance.

Another Facebook user called Leslie Manezy posted a screenshot of a conversation that is allegedly between Killer T and an unknown person. In the conversation Killer T was being encouraged to at least say something to the hoards of displeased fans that were demanding answers.

Killer T is responding only to fans that are accepting his apology on Facebook and he is ignoring any other comments demanding answers. Fans want to know why he failed to pitch up despite having tickets booked twice and receiving payment for performing at the show. Fans want to know if they will be reimbursed for their tickets. There are complaints about damages to property.

Earground spoke with the promoters and posted about it on their page. According to them, Killer T confirmed that he was on his way and that resulted in them playing his music until 2 am in hopes that he would pitch up.

Based on the apology made by Killer T and his management team, it’s apparent that they need to refine their Public Relations skills. Failure to do that may result in him losing a lot of fans and also contributing to the bad name given to Zimbabwean musicians due to his unprofessionalism.

For those of you that are not familiar with the name, Annie Idibia is a well-known Nigerian model, presenter and actress. She is married to the popular Nigerian musician 2Baba.

Wisdom recently took to Instagram to expose his sister Annie saying:

“Hello Nigerians, my name is Wisdom Macaulay, I am the elder brother of Annie Macaulay Idibia. I’m crying out for help at this moment because my life is been threatened. I have been working with my sister for sometime but she would never pay me my dues, she would rather send me N20,000 or N30,000…turn me to her slave and she can decide when she is angry to end it. Some weeks back, her husband sent me some money that I have begging him for years. The money wasn’t so much but I used it to settle my home. I have a wife from Imo State and I am yet to pay her bride price because I don’t have money.

Annie introduced me to drugs, hard drugs, Annie takes drugs, she is a drug addict, she takes it everyday, she is so violent, she doesn’t have peace with anyone, she fights everybody”.

He further added,

“I wasn’t around for 2 weeks and when I came back, she took everything from me. Annie lied on her story that I beat her in her husband’s house, how can I do that? Annie insults my wife, she insults everybody. I begged for her to give me money to buy a car so I can use it for Uber yet she refused, she doesn’t want me to stand on my feat.

Today, she drove me out of her house, and sent boys to waylay me when I took her car. Now my life is at risk. Annie is so ill tempered”.

The part that most people are shocked about is the drugs. But one can no help noticing that what really made him angry is fact that he is not content with what his sister does for her. He mentions not being given enough money and also requesting a car and not getting one. In this breath, Annie Idibia has responded on social media and she said:

“Oh Wizy, Why big bro Why Wisdom.

Why all these lies against your ONLY sister.. your younger sister, all i ever did was protect you and your kids.

Since we grew up bro, have you ever paid for house rent in your entire life?

You live in a 3bedroom flat fully furnished with everything you need for you and kids.

Wisdom you have 3 kids, have you ever paid for their school fees since they were born?

Your oldest child 9, for 9 years since your wife started making babies, have you ever paid for hospital bills for any of your kids?

Have you ever paid school fees.

Oh Wizy, how many cars have i bought for you since God started blessing me!

You say you work for me…how?

Where?? After Dad died, the car I had bought for him, told you to service the Jeep, you sold the car without telling me.

All I have was love you and your kids!

Every Xmas I make sure they all get something new…. I even make sure your wife isn’t aware!

How many times have I given you millions Wizy, but you are way too irresponsible, because I don’t have the heart to watch your kids go hungry!

Keep blackmailing me that you will kill yourself.

I have receipts on my online banking n proof.

WHy do you wanna destroy this lil career I have worked so hard to make?

It’s common in the African culture for a successful person to be expected to pay black tax. Once a person gets a job, goes overseas, or becomes successful they are expected to bring the rest of the family along with them.

Despite Annie Idibia doing things financially for her brother and his family, he still expects her to continuously give him more money and even start a business for him. And although he claims to not have enough money to marry, he has three children.

It’s alarming how people are focused on the drug aspect of Wisdom’s “confession”. Did Wisdom really say those things to expose a drug addiction or is he an able-bodied man without a plan for his life besides riding on his sister’s fame?

Roki released a gospel song alongside Queen Kadjah called “Ndinouya”. The music video features Prophet Passion Java and Robert Mugabe Junior. It is common for artists that sing in other genres to release Christian music from time to time. Beyonce did it with Kelly and Michelle in the song “Say Yes”.

People tend to react to these songs differently with questions like Is it wise for someone who sings about the world or non-Christian themes to also sing Gospel music? Is it possible for the same person that pushes a worldly agenda to also push the Word of God? Can clean water and dirty water flow from the same stream?

When one listens to Gospel music is it the words of a song that matter or the Spirit behind the song? Many times artists from various genres sing a song with the words “God”, “worship”, and any other commonly used Christian words and call the song Gospel. When an artist sings a Gospel song is it Gospel because of the words or because of their lifestyle we identify with them as Gospel artists?

Another popular case of a Gospel singer that lived a contrary life is the late Lundi Tyamara. Despite being one of the most popular gospel singers of his time, Lundi confessed to struggling with drug and alcohol abuse in 2003. He proceeded to book himself into a rehabilitation centre. Rumors also circulated that he would have relations with married men.

Roki’s video is on 100 000 views and trending at No.3. The reception has been generally good and people have commented that they always expected that Passion Java Records owned by Prophet Passion Java would be producing mainly Gospel music. What do you think of the video?

The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit in the film industry. They are regarded by many as the most prestigious and significant awards in the entertainment industry worldwide.

Samuel L Jackson has appeared in more than 150 films throughout his lifetime. His notable credits include Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Deep Blue Sea, and Die Hard with a Vengeance, to name a few. He was nominated for the best supporting actor at the 1995 Academy Awards for his role in Pulp Fiction.

It’s difficult to understand how such an esteemed actor could win the prestigious award close to the end of his career. It cannot be an issue of the number of movies because then actors like Lupita Nyongo wouldn’t have won an Oscar after one movie (12 Years A Slave).

Is it an issue of race?

At the time of the #OscarsSoWhite uproar in 2015 and 2016, about the lack of nominees of colour, the Academy revealed that of its 6,000 members, 93 per cent were white and 76 per cent were men. The median age was 63.

The Academy announced it would double the number of women and minority members by 2020 to foster a more diverse environment.

Who determines the winners?

In 2021, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles had 9,487 voting members as of mid-January, according to its website.

Academy membership is divided into 17 branches of actors, directors, producers, costume designers etc. Candidates must be active or otherwise have “achieved distinction” in the industry.

Applicants must be sponsored by two Academy members representing their branch.

Oscar winners and nominees are automatically considered for membership and do not need sponsors.

Applications are reviewed once a year in the spring by the Academy’s Board of Governors, which has the final say on who joins the elite group.

Members used to enjoy voting rights for life but since 2016, “voting status” has been limited to 10 years, and is renewable, to avoid having voters who are no longer active in the business.

Lifetime voting rights only come after three 10-year terms. Those not active become “emeritus” members who cannot vote.

Members of each of the 17 branches pick the nominees in their area of expertise. The actors’ branch — the largest voting group — submits nominations for the acting categories, directors submit nominations for best director and so on.

Based on their voting systems, it seems that winners are chosen by masters of the entertainment industry. That says a lot about what Samuel L Jackson’s peers think about him.

Not making the cut over the years means that even though we might think his work was worth recognition earlier, the elite board at the Academy Awards may not share the same sentiments. Are the nominations completely bias-free? What criteria does one use to nominate?

Will Smith punched Chris Rock at the Oscars for telling a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. The actor stood up, boldly walked towards the comedian and punched him hard in the face before walking back to his seat and screaming “KEEP MY WIFE’S NAME OUT OF YOUR EFFING MOUTH”

Chris Rock on the other hand was very professional and chose to keep the show going. Many women are applauding the action and some people are laughing. But few are talking about the public display of abusive behaviour by a Hollywood star. Are we saying it is right?

Tiffany Haddish applauded the slap and called it honourable. Defending his woman would have been snatching the mic and speaking in protest of the joke not slapping another man in front of millions of people. Despite his anger, he is a public figure and as long as one is a public figure people will form opinions that they are entitled to.

Even if Chris rock was out of line Will Smith had no right to slap him. The same people that talk about gender-based violence and how raising one’s hand is classified as abusive behaviour turn around and justify the act. If the comedian in question was a woman people would have been calling for Will Smith’s head by now.

DJ Ollah 7 got an opportunity to ask the question when he interviewed Kikky BadAss on Star FM’s “The After Drive” show. Kikky BadAss got married in 2019 to Benias Mupasairi. Rumour back in the day was that she was married off for US$500 and Kikky responded to H-Metro saying:

“The décor, food and everything was almost US$500 wofunga munhu ouya ne$500 vabereki vanhu vachibvuma izvozvo? I think ari kucirculator such information haana kukwana. US$1 600 was paid for me (on the day) and he was charged US$3 000 USD.”

After that Kikky had an interview with Zimpapers Television Network in July 2021 and she refused to reveal the current state of her marriage then. She expressed that she preferred to keep her personal issues private. However, when DJ Ollah asked her she first hesitated but she then gave us the scoop on her current marital status.

“So then I was married customarily, according to the culture.”

Kikky explained how they were planning a wedding but she never puts her relationship issues out on social media. She spoke about how people from her generation do not understand what love really is. She added, “You don’t cheat on someone you love”.

Kikky went on to say that she controls what people see and any assumptions people have are based on what she makes them see. She then said she doesn’t believe it was divorce but they just broke up. DJ Ollah asked who initiated the separation and Kikky said:

“I just..you…I felt like umm. My marriage..the marriage wasn’t serving me.

I said I appreciate growth. So it wasn’t growing into what I expected so…”

When asked what type of man she would like to be with Kikky said

“I like someone who is very strong-minded. Because im a strong-minded individual so you know, there will always be conflict because you cannot really detect how I should run my life. You know, there will be respect-facts- I will respect you, I can submit to you. But, you know, I want a very strong-minded person. I want a person who shares the vision that I share, a person who wants to grow, a person who likes to, you know, make a difference in the world. Like a person who wants to get the money”

It’s always difficult when people that live in the limelight have to then declare their private lives because so many people want to know. We have seen this with celebrities like Ruvheneko when she got divorced and when she announced her pregnancy. It’s all in the day’s work of the lives of celebrities.

Everyone wants to know if the love scene was real. Were they really naked? Was there penetration?

Khanyi Mbau led with a response and said that there was no penetration during the love scene. She said:

“The Wife belongs to a corporate entity called Showmax, and it is a professional entertainment platform. They are not a porn or adult entertainment company”.

Khanyi spoke about safety precautions and regulations saying

“Number one is hygiene. Number two, there are Covid tests when any character comes into contact with another to make sure none of the actors is put at risk. The actors are then allowed to choose who they want in the room. They are given a shortlist of how they are going to shoot this.

“There is a green tape for the characters so there is a safe line. It is something that you will not see, but we see it and the camera guy knows once I look into that, it means he needs to stop. They have gone past my limit of comfort and safety”.

“Body parts are protected, strapped and kept away from each person’s body. This is because we are natural human beings, especially men. If there had to be an erection, it would show, and it may put me in a position where I feel uncomfortable”.

“Actors are respected, you do not look at an actor when they are nude. Once there is a cut, characters stand apart and we’re given our gowns in which we are covered and protected”.

When asked about how they managed to make people believe they were fully naked she said

“I wore the thinnest T strap underwear you can ever imagine. Camera work allows the illusion for you to think there’s nothing there when there’s everything there. For example, in the scene where he went down on me, there was literally a big camera in the sheets with us,”

“Even in the scene where you see Nkosana under the sheet talking to me, you thought I was there. I wasn’t there. I was not even in the room when they shot him lying in bed as if they were both there,”

Mondli on the other hand did not disclose much about the technical side of pulling off such a love scene but he said acting is a craft, and the fact that so many people across the country believe that the intercourse actually happened, only means that they both did a magnificent job.

A lot more was spoken about in the Twitter space including how they broke the news about their love scene to their significant others and how they built a relationship that allowed them to work together. Although the scene lasted for minutes on the show, in real life it took them a minimum of three hours to film.

Although people like to fixate on the nitty-gritty like knowing if the pair really had sex what matters is that they did the job well enough for us to believe that the characters they play did the deed. That’s all that matters. Their job is to tell a story and as far as the story goes, the characters had s_ex. However, it’s natural for people to want to translate what they see in a fictional story into real life. Because if Khanyi and Mondli really did have sex, that would just blow up even more headlines.
