The President of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli died on the 17th of March 2021. This sad news was delivered by the Vice President of Tanzania inferring that this unfortunate situation has been a huge blow to Tanzania.
President of the opposition party in Zimbabwe, Nelson Chamisa, took to twitter to offer his condolences to the Magufuli family and the Tanzanian nation.
He had this to say:
“With sadness, I note the passing on of H.E Magufuli JP of Tanzania. My sincere condolences to the Magufuli family and the great people of Tanzania. Our prayers are with them all during this difficult time.Wishing Tanzania a democratic and peaceful transition. RIP Mzee.”
In accordance with the Tanzanian constitution, Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan will be continuing Magafuli’s term. While the date of her swearing-in is yet to be announced, she will be Tanzania’s first female president.
May the Magufuli family continue to be comforted during their time of mourning.
