The telecommunications parastatal owned by the Zimbabwean government, TelOne has resorted to other means of making money.
TelOne took to their social media pages to announce their latest introduction to the TelOne family. They call it the New MLS Easy TS 4G Smart Feature Phone. This feature phone is able to access Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram much like Econet’s smart kambudzi.
So since it’s being introduced by TelOne, one would expect that it was released in a bid to encourage the use of their network by making it operate on their network. However, this is not the case. The feature phone is just another regular feature phone, which makes TelOne seem like just another regular handset seller.

The price of these handsets caught people off guard. It will cost US$99.99 for one of these feature phones. People wondered why these phones were priced as such given the fact that one can get a smartphone like an iTel for the same price or even less.
