Cases of police officers damaging cars with spikes and smashing their windshields have been on the rise. This has been happening particularly to commuter omnibuses or ‘muchika-chika’ vehicles. The sad part is that all this damage is done in the name of upholding and enforcing the law, But is that how it should be done?
Whatever your opinion on this is, the fact of the matter is that the general public has expressed disappointed at the rowdy behaviour that such officers displayed. The public’s cries seem to have been heard and a letter was shown in which the Officer Commanding Police of the Mbare District addressed this issue.
The letter highlighted that the Headquarters had been watching with growing concern as officers continued to adopt rowdy law enforcing methods such as the aforementioned. Necessary punitive measures were promised to officers of the law who are caught applying these methods.
