In 2011 two MDC activists were thrown behind bars on murder charges. Today, after serving 8 years of their 20 year sentence, the Supreme Court has finally ruled that they were not guilty.
The MDC duo is Last Maengahama and Tunga Madzorera. They were sentenced on May 10, 2016. This followed after a police officer, Petros Mutedza was murdered in Glen View following a fight that had broke out between residents. They were among the 23 other Glen View residents arrested for this crime.
The prominent lawyer and politician, Fadzayi Mahere had recently visited the duo. She expressed their lament over being convicted for a crime they were not involved in. The duo, both fathers, worried often about their children’s welfare while at Chikurubi but sadly, could not do anything about it.
