Here’s what happened:

A crocodile was seen roaming about out of its natural habitat at Chiredzi General Hospital. Exactly how it got there is not certain but rumor has it that it swam in the drainage system. This occurrence was a result of some heavy rains and a poor drainage system. 

As this incident was the first of its kind, some residents were quick to assume that it was related to some mysterious activities being carried out by one of the male patients. However, this claim was dismissed when Chiredzi District Administrator and Civil Protection Unit chair,  Lovemore Chisema stated that this event shouldn’t come as a surprise or be tied with superstitious beliefs as the rains this year have caused the water levels to rise immensely causing the confused creature to stray from its habitat. 

The acting Chiredzi District Hospital medical superintendent, Dr. David Taruwinga had this to say:

“It was just a crocodile that was seen with the hospital areas around 4 am but it did not attack anyone. Noone was injured The situation was managed very well and the crocodile was taken by the Zimparks and deposited in Chiredzi River”

It’s a great relief that the situation was handled by the responsible authorities in a timely fashion.
