]]>As predicted Mai TT decided to further express her thoughts about Olinda in a live video today (video below). This after she was cautioned by Olinda for talking about social media issues at a meeting with Minister Mutsvangwa instead of issues that affect other women in society.
Olinda also shared some screenshots (pictures below) of messages allegedly sent to her by MaiTT. Much of the long message is Mai TT calling Olinda a fraud with reference to her makeup products. Mai TT proceeds to body shame Olinda calling her an elephant and advising her to go and fix her teeth first before she tries to fix other people’s problems.
Battles on social media are not new but it’s ironically funny how Mai TT is doing the very thing she wants another woman to get arrested for.

]]>It all started when Mai TT and Madam Boss had a meeting with Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa. At this meeting, Madam Boss and Mai TT advocated for harsher laws against anyone who attacks the two of them, as if the cyber bill wasn’t doing enough. Mai TT particularly pleaded for the arrest of another social media personality known as Evidence Chihera.

Olinda Chapel-Nkomo responded to the meeting proceedings with a comment on her Facebook page (pictures above). She questioned the intentions behind the request made by the influencers. She further expressed disappointment at the fact that nothing was spoken about issues that affects the lives of ordinary women in Zimbabwe. Olinda suggested other topics that could have been brought to the table like creating employment for women, women’s projects and free courses for women.

Mai TT allegedly responded to the comment and texted Olinda (picture above). Olinda then posted the message on her Facebook and filmed a live video further explaining herself. In true Mai TT fashion, she took it personally and allegedly sent more texts insulting Olinda on a personal level and cautioned her to stay out of her business (picture below).

The request made by Mai TT and Madam Boss may seem valid from an influencers point of view, but it was a classic wrong place and wrong time argument. Although it may be true that they face a lot of persecution as media influencers, the platform was not the opportunity to discuss those matters. As women who represent the voice of many other women in Zimbabwe, they could have used it as an opportunity to voice the concerns and outcries of the Zimbabwean woman.
The manner in which words were exchanged by Mai TT and Olinda was wrong because they attacked each other’s personal lives and revealed each other’s secrets. Yet the general message is clear. Meeting Minister Mutsvangwa was an opportunity for the influencers to use their voices for positive change.
