]]> The president of Chad, Idriss Deby has been reported dead on Tuesday the 20th of April 2021. His death is said to have been caused by wounds that he sustained while commanding the national army against rebels in the North.

President Idriss Deby had just been re-elected as the Chad President on Monday. If not for his untimely death, this would have been his sixth term as president of the nation.

Army Spokesperson Général Azem Bemrandoua Agouna broke this sad news to the press. He described the situation stating that the Chad army had been pushed back by insurgents who were advancing on the capital city N’Djamena. Derby had visited the Chadian soldiers on the front line putting on hold the victory speech he was set to give.
