]]>Elias Mudzuri, the VP of MDC-T is reported to have caused the death of Ronald Mukumbira. Mukumbira is said to have been at Duriro Pub & Grill in Workington, Harare. He is said to have been attacked following a dispute over missing pool table balls. The bar is owned by VP Mudzuri.
The said assault victim reportedly told his mother and brother that he was attacked by Elias Mudzuri and his brother Leonard Mudzuri, among other unnamed men. He died on June 10 2021, three days after the assault is said to have taken place.
Relatives of the deceased are said to have taken the coffin with the body to Mudzuri’s home. Apparently, the family is furious that the police haven’t arrested Mudzuri, however a post-mortem carried out seems to not link the death with the assault. Nonetheless, the victim’s mother insists that the pathologist had written that the issue needed to be investigated.
Mukumbira’s death is reportedly still under investigation. However, the late’s family is worried that the police will not arrest the alleged perpetrators given their political status.
This is not the first time that a member of the MDC-T party has made headlines. This year alone several others have given rise to speculation as they switched to Zanu PF.
What are your thoughts on this matter?

]]>The claim of POLAD not being a true dialogue platform seemed to be confirmed when in January of 2019, the government went ahead to gazette a controversial Constitutional Amendment Bill, which had not taken into consideration POLAD member’s proposals regarding constitutional changes.
If the allegation of joining POLAD is true, it begs the question, why then would a leader of an opposition party choose to be a part of such a dialogue platform after some resistance?
Well, in the vote of thanks speech Hon Douglas Mwonzora gave during the launch of the second vaccination program in Victoria Falls, stated that “politics of divisive vancour are a thing of the past” He suggested that the political outlook had changed from “political self-aggrandisement” to putting the nation first. He continued to share the following sentiments:
“We don’t want politics of hunger, hate and intolerance. As leaders of the opposition we should work for the betterment of the economy to save our people and also support the vaccination programme.”
Watch a snippet of the Honorable’s speech below:
Mwonzora’s move has been viewed as affirmation of suspicions that the MDC-T has been fraternising with the ruling party in and attempt to wipe out the main opposition party led by Nelson Chamisa.
Some have pointed to that this move could be the same strategy of political survival described by the late President Robert Mugabe as the “Madhuku Strategy.” The only difference in this case would be that instead of the opposition causing havoc in the ruling party as was described by the late ex-President, it is viewed as the ruling party’s attempt at disarming the opposition Party since the 2023 elections are fast approaching.
Watch as the Late President describes the “Madhuku Strategy” below:
Fadzayi Mahere, spokesperson for MDC-A led by Nelson Chamisa had the following sentiments to share regarding this move:
“We will take all necessary steps to stop the attempt by Zanu PF and its surrogates who usurped the will of the people to create a one-party State. The regime must respect the democratic and constitutional rights of the citizens to challenge its policies and offer alternatives for the betterment of the nation,”
However, amidst claims that Mwonzora is being used as a puppet by the ruling party and has joined POLAD, he shared the following sentiment:
“It’s a national event where people unite to fight the pandemic. We have nothing to do with Polad. This is not a Polad event”
What are your thoughts on these opinions?

]]>MDC-T members seem to be queued up waiting for their turn to join President Emerson Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF. In the forefront are Mr James Makore, one of the founding members of the party and former MDC spokesperson Mr Obert Gutu. They have also served in these capacities:
During the inclusive Government period from, Cde Gutu served as Deputy Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs. He discontinued this role in 2013.
He the went on to assume the vice presidency of the MDC-T following the split that occurred when Mr Morgan Tsvangirai died. He was the then party’s leader Ms Thokozani Khupe’s deputy.
Cde Makore was an MDC-T Senator for Chitungwiza.
These two members have already been welcomed by President Mnangagwa as of March 18 2021.
It is currently being speculated that more MDC-T members are on their way to join the ruling party.
The defection to the ruling party of other former MDC-T legislators, Ms Lillian Timveous and Mr Blessing Chebundo nearly two weeks ago is likely to have instigated the decision made by the two former MDC members.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, the president had this to say:
“These are senior members of the MDC and they have decided individually to come back home. In fact, I should mention that with regards to Cde Makore, he was at the beginning, in the early 60s and 70s, in the national movement with us.
So he has come back home and he said ‘I feel at home ideologically in Zanu PF and want to come back and contribute to the reconstruction of the country”
On Mr Obert Gutu, he continued to share the following sentiments:
“Obert is a young man. He said he has a conscience and he slept over his conscience and came to the conclusion that this party that he was in would not give him satisfaction for the purposes of revolutionarily contributing to the construction, growth and modernisation of Zimbabwe and charting the destination of the people of this country”
Also at the occasion to welcome the duo were Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Zanu PF National Chairman, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, the ruling party’s Secretary for Security Cde Lovemore Matuke and Masvingo provincial chairman Cde Ezra Chadzamira.
Cde Gutu and Makore felt the support and warm welcome extended by the President and those in attendance. Gutu shared the following remarks:
“We feel we are here to contribute to the development of the country. Speaking entirely for myself, I am not position-oriented. I know some people will say Gutu wants this post or that post, that’s far from it.
We are here to play our part albeit a small part for the development of this country and the Vision which the Second Republic has fashioned for this country, Vision 2030 which is achievable with the right mindset and skills set,”
Senator Makore echoed similar sentiments saying he had returned home.
“We do feel we have to contribute to the economy, we can’t consistently fight without producing any tangible result for the economy and by and large we can be a cog in national development,” he said.
