]]> The Minister of Finance, Prof Mthuli Ncube has formally terminated Acie Lumumba’s employment contract just 3 days after hiring him to run the ministry’s ‘Communications Taskforce’ following backlash from the public and government officials.

In the termination letter (below) Prof Mthuli Ncube indicated that “New information has come to light over the appropriateness of the appointment …”

Lumumba whose had stints at Start FM and Zimbabwe Youth Council before unceremoniously exiting the respective organisations had been appointed Chairman of the ‘Communications Taskforce’ of one of the most sensitive ministries, this move had surprised many Zimbabweans.

Whilst Lumumba was in office he managed to expose corruption at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) leading to 4 top officials being suspended today by John Mangudya, RBZ governor.
