]]>The second swimmer, US based Peter Wetzlar, broke the national record for freestyle 100m race at 50.31 seconds. The previous record was 50.50 seconds which he also held. Unfortunately, this record was unable to qualify him into the swimming finals at the Olympics. Wetzlar needed to come in the top 16 to make it to the semi finals, however he finished 42 out of 70 swimmers

]]>This year’s Olympics have changed things up. Zimbabwe is being represented in swimming by a black person for the first time. Her name is Donata Katai and she is still a 17 year old. At such a young age she is making huge strides. She was also the one to break Kirsty Coventry’s swimming record and currently holds 200 swimming medals. Donata will even be the country’s flag bearer during the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympic games today, Friday 23 July 2021.

]]>Zimbabwe will be represented in swimming, athletics and golf. 5 sports persons from Zimbabwe were chosen to represent. They will be accompanied by some coaches and a few others. However, the delegation has caused quite stir as many Zimbabweans seem to agree that the delegation is an embarrassment to the country.

Yes, you read that right! 5 athletes are to be accompanied by 8 personnel as “Athlete Support Personnel.” A delegation of 13!
The athletes are yet to enjoy several experiences including using the anti-sex beds reserved specifically for these sports persons.
The general sentiments in regards to the Zimbabwean Olympics delegation can be summed up by one twitter comment which read:

]]>The beds are made of cardboard material and have a maximum weight of 200kgs. This ensures that if the athletes attempt to take part in extracurricular activities, the beds will collapse. They have also been encouraged to keep the condoms they are given before the games begin as a souvenir.
