]]> Qatar’s state-owned flag carrier is one of the youngest to serve all six continents. The global airline was launched in 1997 and in those years it had never flown to Zimbabwe.

A new route has been added from Harare – Lusaka and will begin to operate on the 6th of August. On Monday 21 July 2021, Qatar announced that the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be the first to use this route.

According to Qatar, the opening of the Harare, Lusaka route is expected to support increased demand for trade between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

In addition, Qatar Airways’ total of 30 tonnes of cargo capacity on the aircraft per flight will allow them to play a key role in facilitating key exports from Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The new route will result in the carrier operating over 100 weekly flights to 27 destinations in Africa.
