The woman from Mpopoma is said to have appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja after her son shared the ordeal with his friend who then told his mother. The friend’s mother is the one who then made sure the issue was reported.

The identities of both mother and son have not been revealed as it is a sensitive case involving a minor. Allegations against the woman are that from January this year up to 13 March, the woman enticed her six-year-old son to be in between the sheets with her.

The son is said to have refused but the woman threatened to beat him with a cable if he did not meet her demands. The woman was not asked to plead and she has been remanded in custody to the 22^nd of March for routine remand. The magistrate advised her to apply for bail.

The Controversial Sermon

A certain Dr. Burnett L. Robinson who was the senior pastor at Grand Concourse Seventh-Day Adventist Temple, Bronx NY recently shook the internet. He gave a sermon in which he mentioned that “the best person to rape is your wife.” Sounded better in his head and probably not what was meant. Or maybe that’s what he meant.

Whatever the case was, the Pastor faced some serious backlash from all over.

Below are just a handful of the sentiments shared:

Response 1:

“Marital rape is a thing. Just because you’re married, that doesn’t mean you’re entitled to your spouse’s body. God did not mean a spouse belonging to each other like that . This is exactly why God allows divorce. He knew that some spouses would be victims of a wicked spouse. I hate how Pastor B. Robinson conflated submission in this manner. I’m glad the Greater New York Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church put him on administrative leave and that the overall North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is standing with the Greater New York Conference. I’m glad the Seventh-day Adventist Church is taking this seriously. This is a shame only on the pastor, not the Church. I hope they fire Pastor B. Robinson and that he’s never allowed to speak from the pulpit again.”

“Why people are leaving organized religion in droves: Exhibit A. Getting married doesn’t mean you forfeit your right to say no.”

“There’s so many church goers that promote this type of behavior. I’m just glad he’s being exposed and hopefully others like him will be discouraged from preaching this nonsense.”

Backward thinking and definitely not what the Bible teaches on being a submissive wife! Raping someone is not an act of love because in the next verse, men are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church. Some pastors need an education!”

One Pastor who identifies as Donnovan Wint and has previously associated with the pastor in question had the following to say:

“I take no pleasure in saying this; however, this is appalling and not a stance taken by believing SDA Christians. I think his mouth went ahead of his brain. I happened to know the Pastor; he was in fact the Pastor of my church in Jamaica during my teenage years. I don’t know how an intelligent man could even let such a thing comes from his mouth. My wife was livid when she read the article someone sent her. When she shared the article, her disbelief and anger with me…and once I figured out who this Pastor was I could not believe it. I haven’t seen this Pastor in some 40+ years; however, I remembered him to be a good Pastor. I just don’t know what has happened here, but I will be praying for Pastor Robinson; because he needs our prayers. I also pray for those who were offended…and continue to be, by his cutting words! …”husband love your wife as Christ loves the church”. If only he had chosen to based his sermon on that text!”

The media has been closely following the story of Precious Teya, a 26 year old woman who was arrested for sleeping with a minor 13 year old boy. The court developments have been an emotional roller-coaster for the public. Parents of young boys are cringing while some of the general public are justifying this woman’s actions.

As of March 8 2021, Teya is on the loose after a successful bail application of $10 000. This decision by the courts came after High Court Judge Tawanda Chitapi ruled that the evidence was clear in showing the minor boy’s willingness and consent in the act.

It would seem that this boy’s so called ” willingness” suddenly overrides the fact that he is a 13 year old child. Would the same rule be given by the courts had this been a 13 year old girl?

Consider this: The issue of child marriages is a hot and sensitive topic in the media of late. If some girls were to express a willingness to become involved in the marriage would that water down the strong stance against child marriages? Not in a thousand years, even if it was being done for the “greater good” of the family.

Could we say there is bias in the way issues pertaining to minors of different genders are handled?

In this matter, Brasho Mutale, 28, of Sunkutu Village in Kasama appeared for trial on a charge of attempted rape and assault occasioning actual bodily harm on a 52-year-old woman.

Mutale is alleged to have committed the two offences on December 27, 2020.

The court heard that on the material day around 20:00 hours , Mutale got into the land lady’s house and later her bedroom and started dragging and undressing her in a bid to have sex with her forcibly.

The case came before Resident Magistrate Samson Mumba.

During trial, the woman narrated that Mutale insisted that he wanted to have sex with her, as a way of paying a monthly house rental.

According to her, he burst into her bedroom while he was in his underwear only.

She narrated that after shouting for help three times, her neighbours went for a rescue her and dragged Mutale out of her house while he was just in his under wear.

The matter was adjourned for continued trial and Mutale was remanded at Kasama’s Milima Correctional Facility.

Reports of women being undressed are rife, amongst many other oddities these derelicts are known for, for the most part they’ve managed get away with it, but in this latest case justice prevailed.

According to reports 1 Harare tout has just been sentenced to 4 months in jail for fondling a university student in the Harare’s central business ditrict.

Nigel Akimu plead not guilty to the charge however the court found him guilty.

It is the State’s case that on March 24 at around 3pm, the complainant was walking with her friend and on approaching the Leopold Takawira Street and Speke Avenue in Harare, Akimu approached her from the back and started fondling her and was seen by the complainant’s friend.

All this could have been avoided if he had kept his hands to himself, and minded his own business.

The truth is that many women are harassed by touts on a daily basis the difference with this case is that the victim was brave enough to report the matter to police.
