The post Strive Masiyiwa becomes Zimbabwean once again! appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Masiyiwa started of his year on a high note when he was featured in the 2021 Forbes Billionaires List. If you religiously follow this list you might know that this wasn’t the first time he made it to the list. However, this year’s list caused havoc as they identified the billionaire as British. We covered that sensitive issue here.
Recently, Strive flew the flag high once again. Not the Zimbabwean flag but rather the British flag. UK’s Rich List 2021 was published and for the first time since 1989 the list features a black person. Yes, you guessed it, that black person is Strive Masiyiwa. Once again, he was identified as British and Zimbabweans were hurt. We shared that issue in this article.
Strive Masiyiwa has corrected that error. In a reply to one of his Facebook followers who congratulated him for being the first British black billionaire on the Rich List he stated:
“Thank you, Joseph. Just one correction; I’m not British, I’m Zimbabwean. The article simply said the first black billionaire to live in Britain. There are many billionaires on the list who are residents of the UK, but not British citizens. To suggest that I’m British simply because on the list of a UK newspaper is the same as I’m an American since I have long appeared on the list of Forbes Magazine”
So, don’t you fret Zimbabweans, the billionaire is still yours.

]]>The Rich List is a list published by the Sunday Times and features 1000 of the wealthiest families that reside in the United Kingdom. Strive Masiyiwa has been residing in the UK for long enough to even be listed as British in the Forbes 2021 List as we covered in this article. It would seem that it pains the western world to associate such success with Zimbabwe that they now put Masiyiwa down in history as British. Or maybe not. We’ll let you be the judge of that.
Since its establishment in 1989, The Sunday Times has never had a black billionaire on their list. Strive Masiyiwa this year changed that norm with his current estimated net worth of £1.087 billion.
Although he is making such huge strides and gaining various accolades overseas, Strive Masiyiwa is still very much invested in the African nation. He is currently focusing on helping Africa’s 1.3 billion population receive sufficient coronavirus vaccines. Masiyiwa doesn’t end there. He is very outspoken about sharing his knowledge with the Africa for the sake of the continent’s development. We shared some of his advice regarding the problem with the African mentality here.
Masiyiwa’s most recent share was regarding the opportunity Africans often miss although we have the resources to take advantage of it. Check out the article here.
