]]>The amount teachers are being paid is said to not be sufficient to cover some very basic necessities. This was the cause for the protests that took place almost two months ago. You can read about it here. Amidst these hardships, some teachers have found other ways to sustain themselves. However, it seems as though their hard-earned money is also being sought after by merciless thieves.
Such was the case for two teachers at Rusununguko High School in Shurugwi. They lost cash and valuables amounting to Z$43 000. The robbery took place at Muchakata bus stop.
Carl Masvaya and Tafadzwa Mandipa, the teachers in question, were dropped off at the bus stop at 10pm. Soon after, they were approached by the two robbers with knives who demanded that the teachers hand over their possessions or risk losing their lives.
Zimlive reports that among the property stolen were two phones, an iTel and a Techno, Z$7,000 and US$6 in cash, two satchels with one containing clothes plus three pairs of white tackies.
Investigations are currently underway and police in Shurugwi are appealing to anyone with information on the thieves.
Thefts have been on the rise recently, with thieves even implementing fresh new tactics such as the ones we showcased here.

]]>This move of privatizing the school lead to the government withdrawing 40 of their teachers therefore students are currently not learning. The angry parents and community residents blamed former Odar Housing Development Consortium (OHDC) administrators for registering the school as a private school. They stated that this decision was made without their knowledge.
The parents claim that this was a fraudulent move as they were responsible for building the school with their monies. However, Ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro has stated that if they are unable to provide documentation proving that the school belongs to the them nothing could be done. He added:
“Those who registered the school are the responsible authority and the ministry cannot resolve that dispute. If there is a case, aggrieved parties can take the legal route.”
The parents and community were caught on video protesting over this.
