]]>The journalism path was never an easy one for Ncube. During the Mugabe regime he had his passport taken away as restrictive press laws began to be applied in 2005. The regime later attempted to strip him of his citizenship. This was unsuccessfully.
As if that wasn’t enough, he went on to be blacklisted along with other critics of Mugabe and the Zimbabwean government by The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).
However, these struggles did not hinder him from soaring within his field. He went on to be listed asΒ one of the Top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine in 2014.

]]>Well the two have decided to bury the hatchet, with the deputy minister taking to his Twitter page and saying the following:
I have buried the hatchet with my brother @TrevorNcube in the good spirit of our new 2nd Republic. A friendship built after a fight is long-lasting.

]]>Writing on his Twitter Profile the Deputy Minister had this to say;
If Trevor Ncube continues with his thoughtless rants against licensing authorities, gvt will be forced to instruct all its departments, parastatals & associated companies to stop adverts & subscribing AMH products. You are just Trevor Ncube not Clever Ncube.

This comes after the Alpha Media boss accused the Hon Energy Mutodi of organizing thugs to burn his newspapers, after the paper increased prices following the fiscal policy statements announcements by Minister Mthuli Ncube. In all fairness many retailers across the board were forced to increase prices.
This did not go down well with deputy minister Mutodi who had earlier threatened newspapers who had increased prices with the following statement:
NEWSPAPER PRICES TO REMAIN AT $1: Following a gvt directive for unscrupulous businessmen to stop hiking prices, I am urging all newspapers to stop flying along the wind & keep their prices @ $1. The media industry shall never be subject to speculative behavior under our watch.
In response the Alpha Media Holdings boss responded with the following series of tweets
THUGS BURN NEWSPAPERS
1. Approx 8:30 am today group of youngmen transported in 2 cars attacked @NewsDayZimbabwe and @Zimindependent vendors and burnt newspapers. This was well organised operation. The culprits are at Harare Central police station @daddyhope @ZimMediaReview

2. As this was happening Deputy Minister of Information, Energy Mutodi @energymutodi called NewsDay editor @wisdomdzungairi threatening that he would fight AMH if we didn’t adjust the cover price of our newspapers. This conduct is regrettable and must be strongly condemned.
β Trevor Ncube (@TrevorNcube) October 12, 2018
3. On Wednesday Energy Mutodi tweeted a veiled threat saying newspaper price increases would not happen under “our watch”. The question is – is it him who organised these young people to commit this crime? So far all indications point to this. @edmnangagwa @misazimbabwe

4. Energy Mutodi’ s threat reminds me of Jonathan Moyo’s threat to the Daily News before their printing press was bombed. I refuse to think we are back to those dark days. I am aware getting rid of Mugabeism in some people is a process not an event.
β Trevor Ncube (@TrevorNcube) October 12, 2018
5. The 8 young man are currently at Harare Central police station having been caught by members of the public and our vendors. Vendors have made warned and cautioned statements. This type of behaviour has no place in a country we are trying to rebuild

I see the DM’s about Energy Mutodi @energymutodi ‘s alleged scandals. I will pass them to our journalists who will decide if they are worth following up.
β Trevor Ncube (@TrevorNcube) October 13, 2018
The two are currently engaged in a heated exchange with no signs of slowing down, but many people have come out speaking against the rant by Deputy Minister Mutodi whose behavior is unbecoming of a person in the office of a deputy minister, including a fellow Zanu PF Member of Parliament.
Hon Mutodi youβre misusing your Energy. This conduct borders on criminal abuse of office and may one day get you in serious trouble. I know for sure H.E @edmnangagwa disapproves this crap. We did not fight for this. This careless tweet will destroy what Zimbabweans are building!
