The post Elon Musk Buys Twitter For 44 Billion Dollars. What Next? appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>This deal means that the world’s richest person will own the world’s most influential social media platform. So what changes can we expect to see on Twitter?
Relaxing the rules to promote free speech
Musk, a free-speech “absolutist”, has criticized Twitter’s moderation and that is what first led him to buy a substantial chunk of the company in the first place. He wants Twitter’s algorithm for prioritizing tweets to be public and objects to giving too much power on the service to corporations that advertise.
Upon announcing the purchase Musk said, “free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.” He also argued in a Ted talk that comments that are offensive but legal should not be removed on the social media platform.
A huge fear with Musk’s approach is that it will give license to harassers, trolls and others who abuse the platform to target people. Twitter currently bans harassment, abuse and posts that wish physical harm to someone. Relaxing the rules exposes the platform to people looking to exploit it by spreading misinformation, or flat-out lies, about political events, government officials and matters related to public health and safety.
The ever-requested edit button
Twitter users have been for the longest time requesting an edit button. Other social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram allow people to edit their posts yet on Twitter, once one posts they cannot change it.
This tends to be frustrating because it means that if one wants to change anything they would have to delete the whole post and repost the edited version they want.
Musk has said he supports letting people change what their tweets say, a proposal that has stirred a heated debate among academics, journalists and other heavy users of the platform.
Although this might be a great idea, the adjustment could be weaponized by bad actors, who could use it to cover up abuse or harassment as if it never happened or to dupe or manipulate people. Yet Facebook and other social media platforms with the feature are functioning well and perhaps safeguards could be put in place like allowing people to see the unedited version.
Opening up the algorithm to the public
Musk believes that the software that determines what people are allowed to see should be cracked open. He supports placing Twitter’s algorithm on GitHub, a site popular with programmers for sharing computer code.
This sounds like a lot of chaos waiting to take place because Twitter processes billions of pieces of content every day and so far people view tweets according to their preferences, who they follow, where they stay and so on. Experts worry that Twitter is so dense and complex that the company’s own software engineers can be perplexed trying to understand its logic.
Get rid of advertisements
As Twitter goes private, it will no longer be under the same pressure from shareholders to grow advertising revenue. Although 90 per cent of Twitter’s revenue is made from advertising, they have not successfully managed to get many advertisers on the platform.
Musk has said it should move to a subscription model. Twitter has already taken some steps in that direction with the introduction last year of Twitter Blue, a premium service that cost $2.99 a month for additional features, like an undo button that allows for tweets to be recalled before they are sent.
Musk has said Twitter Blue should be cheaper, that if people are paying, they shouldn’t have to see advertisements and that the cryptocurrency that started as a joke, Dogecoin, should be an acceptable form of payment for a Twitter subscription.
Many people are on edge about the changes that will take place under the ownership of Elon Musk. Although he has shared some views that allow us to determine some of the changes, the practical implementation of these things will only be seen when they start to happen.

]]>The post Elon Musk Purchases Huge Stake In Twitter And Then Alleges The Platform Does Not Adhere To Free Speech Principles appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Recently Elon Musk has been voicing concerns that Twitter is failing to adhere to free speech principles. On March 25, he conducted a poll on Twitter asking his followers if they believe that Twitter “rigorously adheres” to the principle of free speech, adding that the consequences of the poll will be important.
70% of 2 million Twitter users voted “No,” and Musk alleged that Twitter was failing to adhere to free speech principles and undermining democracy in the process. He said Twitter was the “de facto public town square”.
Twitter said Musk purchased around 73.4 million common shares in the social media platform in its regulatory filing. The disclosure has led to a 25% surge in Twitter’s share price in pre-market trading at 7:15 a.m. ET on Monday. The Financial Times notes that this acquisition would make Musk the company’s largest shareholder, nearly four times the size of founder Jack Dorsey’s 2.25% stake.
Elon Musk is yet to publicly acknowledge the acquisition but this move shows that money gives one the freedom to make a lot of decisions. Musk is currently the richest person in the world according to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaire’s List with a net worth of $287.6 billion.

]]>“1. Never IGNORE A WOMAN’S PAST, for it may ruin your future. A woman is a product of her past, both behavior & background. If she has a high body count, you’re also another number. If she’s cheated before, she will also cheat on you…
If she comes from a dysfunctional family, she’ll spread that chaos into your life. If she was raised by a single mom or had a simp father, chances are high she won’t be submissive, always combative, because she never learned how to be a woman or treat a man…
If she was sexually abused at some point, she will always view sex as a weapon. If she was physically abused, try to be any different, she’ll view you as weak. If she’s damaged, she’ll always have issues (trauma) one after the other, it’ll suffocate you…
No matter how beautiful she is. No matter how lose she may be. No matter how dead their marriage supposedly is (whether separated or going through divorce). No matter how sexually frustrated she is, it’s non of your business. Stay off…
Women are not good people. Of cause she’ll talk shit about her husband just to get her way, don’t be a snitch & get to throw your fellow man under the bus just for some pussy. A rat is what you’re, for sitting & conniving in cahoots with a woman on betraying your fellow man…
You will be k!lled & no one will even shed any tears for such a lustful man. In the old days, such men caught fornicating with other people’s wives would either be castrated or beheaded. There’s nothing that makes a man lose his marbles than another man f*cking his woman…
Build a woman & she’ll run away from you, build yourself & she’ll admire you. Women know no gratitude, they’re loyal to their hypergamous nature, either you’re above her or below her, no in-between. That means she’ll dump your naive self after all those sacrifices…
You’ll be yesterday’s news as she’s now on the radar of “better” men than you. And it is at that moment, that you’ll cry a river, boil like an old woman’s kettle & drown in depression or worse – commiting suicide or killing the woman or both
Don’t be foolish enough to be influenced by a woman to commit a crime for her. Crimes of passion, that’s just stupidity, how about focusing that passion on to your purpose. And always remember the law is lenient towards women & harsh towards men…
There’s no benefit beyond some fraudulently conditioned praise, “he’s a good man” or “he’s a real man”. It’s simply a fools errand. 100% responsibility, 0% authority, you’re nothing more than a cheque book…
Don’t be that stupidity, whilst you’re struggling with fees, clothing & feeding that child, the baby daddy is drinking Castle Lite & eating KFC. After 18 years, he reconciles with his child & there you’re bitter & annoying us about how people are ungrateful. Stop that nonsense…
A woman should be nothing more than pleasure not purpose, you don’t navigate your world around her. Never give a woman more than you give yourself. The more resources (time, money & energy) you dedicate to a woman, the less you have to dedicate to your purpose…
Choose your purpose over a woman, as a matter of fact, over everyone & everything else. Ony in achieving your purpose shall you be satisfied. Be a man of purpose!”

]]>The post Khanyi Mbau: “There was no penetration” appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Everyone wants to know if the love scene was real. Were they really naked? Was there penetration?
Khanyi Mbau led with a response and said that there was no penetration during the love scene. She said:
“The Wife belongs to a corporate entity called Showmax, and it is a professional entertainment platform. They are not a porn or adult entertainment company”.
Khanyi spoke about safety precautions and regulations saying
“Number one is hygiene. Number two, there are Covid tests when any character comes into contact with another to make sure none of the actors is put at risk. The actors are then allowed to choose who they want in the room. They are given a shortlist of how they are going to shoot this.
“There is a green tape for the characters so there is a safe line. It is something that you will not see, but we see it and the camera guy knows once I look into that, it means he needs to stop. They have gone past my limit of comfort and safety”.
“Body parts are protected, strapped and kept away from each person’s body. This is because we are natural human beings, especially men. If there had to be an erection, it would show, and it may put me in a position where I feel uncomfortable”.
“Actors are respected, you do not look at an actor when they are nude. Once there is a cut, characters stand apart and we’re given our gowns in which we are covered and protected”.
When asked about how they managed to make people believe they were fully naked she said
“I wore the thinnest T strap underwear you can ever imagine. Camera work allows the illusion for you to think there’s nothing there when there’s everything there. For example, in the scene where he went down on me, there was literally a big camera in the sheets with us,”
“Even in the scene where you see Nkosana under the sheet talking to me, you thought I was there. I wasn’t there. I was not even in the room when they shot him lying in bed as if they were both there,”
Mondli on the other hand did not disclose much about the technical side of pulling off such a love scene but he said acting is a craft, and the fact that so many people across the country believe that the intercourse actually happened, only means that they both did a magnificent job.
A lot more was spoken about in the Twitter space including how they broke the news about their love scene to their significant others and how they built a relationship that allowed them to work together. Although the scene lasted for minutes on the show, in real life it took them a minimum of three hours to film.
Although people like to fixate on the nitty-gritty like knowing if the pair really had sex what matters is that they did the job well enough for us to believe that the characters they play did the deed. That’s all that matters. Their job is to tell a story and as far as the story goes, the characters had s_ex. However, it’s natural for people to want to translate what they see in a fictional story into real life. Because if Khanyi and Mondli really did have sex, that would just blow up even more headlines.

]]>The post “Listen To Your Tall Fake Rasta” South African Woman Mocks Zimbabwean Music appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>A woman with the handle @SisaMaqelee tweeted “The way Zimbabweans hype to our Music and South Africans is funny as their president who puts on a scarf (scarf emoji) when it’s blazing (fire emoji) hot (laughing tears emoji). Like Vele Don’t they have studios? Listen to your tall fake rasta (laughing tears emoji).”
Zimbabweans and some South Africans immediately reacted to this tweet and it spread like wildfire. Most people responded with a simple full stop (current trending response on Twitter where one posts a full stop to express how ridiculous they think the post is- so ridiculous it doesn’t deserve the energy exerted in typing a full response- period).
The source of discontent might not be the president wearing a scarf when it’s blazing hot because people laugh at presidents all the time all over the world. South Africans laugh at their president when he makes mistakes when reading speeches. Americans would laugh at Donald Trump’s hairstyle all the time. The issue is with mocking the Zimbabwean music scene and the “tall fake rasta”.
There are many rasta/dreadlock musicians in Zimbabwe. But only one tall popular one comes to many people’s minds. This artist has been at the centre of many debates. Criticizing this musician is like spitting on a national monument. People went as far as body-shaming the woman in a bid to vent their frustrations. The account was deactivated by the time this article was published.
@SisaMaqelee may have mocked the local music scene but was her mockery based on fact? Zimbabweans vibe to South African music…a lot. There are some places that play local music but it’s common to walk into bars and other recreational places and be welcomed by Amapiano or house music. How often does one walk into a bar in South Africa and find Zimbabwean music being played?
Could this be a sign that Zimbabwean music is not as palatable on the international scene? When genres are mentioned like Naija, Amapiano, Afropop etc, it’s easy for people from all parts of the world to also mention artists like Burna Boy, DJ Maphorisa, Davido, Cassper Nyovest, AKA etc. Yet even the most popular Zimbabwean isn’t mentioned as often on international platforms. When Beyonce collaborated with African artists on her Black Is King project, she worked mostly with South African and Nigerian Artists like Busiswa, Moonchild Sanelly, Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi and others. This is because those are the names from Africa that show up most on the international scene.
One may argue that some artists like Shasha, Nadia Nakai, Oskido etc are popular in South Africa but they are Zimbabweans. The issue isn’t that they are Zimbabwean. Their songs are produced in South Africa. Not many Zimbabwean produced songs make it big on the international charts. Sometimes a song or two will make it, but not as much as those from South Africa or Nigeria. Although Sisa mocked the local music scene, her tweet is an eye-opener to how the music made by Zimbabweans is received globally. Most fans of local musicians are local or Zimbabweans based in the diaspora. How can local artists start making music that appeals to the global market?

It definitely makes sense. We are humans with feelings and emotions. As a virgin, you can find a man attractive and want to have sex with him even though you ve never had sex before.

Perhaps if we ad more people with such values, Tinashe Mugabe would be out of business.
