]]> The United States of America has always been interested in issues concerning human rights in Zimbabwe. Following the recalling from Parliament of 39 MDC Alliance members since March 2020 the US has grown in certainty that Zimbabwe has been stifling people’s right to choose their leadership. As if to add fuel to the fire, Tendai Biti, Vice President of the opposition party was recalled on the 17th of March 2021.

The US Embassy will continue to look closely into the Zimbabwean political situation. They released the following statement:

Tiri kuwongorora zvakare maitiro ehurumende ekuita rusarura pakutevedzerwa kwemitemo ine chekuita neCOVID-19 nechinangwa chekuda kurambidza kuitwa kwesarudzo dzema by-elections uyezve nekurambidza kuitwa kwemisangano yeMDC Alliance asi ichitendera kuitwa kwesarudzo dzemubato riri kutonga reZimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) nemamwe masangano anodyidzana nebato iri.

Bato reZANU PF riri kushandisa masimba ehurumende pakuda kunyaradza vese vanoshoropodza hurumende, kupedza simba mapato anopikisa, nekushandisa chisimba pakutonga vanhu vemuZimbabwe.

Tiri kukurudzira hurumende yeZimbabwe kuti itevedzere basa rayo rekuremekedza zvido zvevanhu uye nekutendera kuti vanhu vasununguke kutaura zvavanofunga semanyorerwo azvakaitwa mubumbiro remutemo uye nezvinodiwa nemasangano ekunze kwenyika.
