From June 2019 to March 2020 we all know that the Zimbabwean Real Time Gross Settlement dollar (RTGS) was the only official currency we could use. However, from thenceforth foreign currency has been used along with the RTGS dollar interchangeably. This seemed to be advantageous to businesses as some would use exchange rates to their advantage.
It has not been uncommon to buy something that proved to be more expensive when converted to RTGS prices. This meant that some businesses would pocket a few more dollars per purchase from the use of higher exchange rates. However, from now on only exchange rates ruled by the government can be used. Any seller caught on the wrong side of this law should expect to face the consequences.
