According to a report by 263 Chat Female ZEC Commissioners had to undergo counseling for the abuse they received during the 2018 elections the opposition.
The ZEC chair was speaking to 263 Chat on the sidelines of the 2018 Elections Review in Nyanga.
Chigumba says that the abuse she received did not make her a victim in any wayas she rose above the hate speech.
During and after the disputed 2018 general elections the ZEC chair receives abuse online through a hashtag called the #ChigumbaChallenge were some social media users mocked her for her overuse of make-up.
Chigumba says female counsellors had to go for counselling after the elections.
She also had a few words for those who picketed ZEC offices in Harare. “It is my considered view that a lot of what transpired during the elections arose from a position of ignorance from our main stakeholders who are the voters,” she said.
