Retrenchment and unemployment are very common stories in Zimbabweans’ lives. In some cases given the economic situation in the country, it seems to be a matter of when am I next? This takes a toil on many people and some fail to get back to the standard of living they once had. However, for some retrenchment comes as a blessing in disguise.
One such example is Mr Brian Mawoyo who was retrenched by Econet on 27 July 2015. He had been working for Econet for 8 years and had risen to senior manager. Of course these retrenchment issues come unexpectedly and may momentarily set one off the rail. But, a year later, on 27 July 2016 he set up Spinyard Seedlings. The company now employs 120 people and is the largest nursery business in Zimbabwe.
Mawoyo took to social media to celebrate this win and Spinyard Seedlings 5 year anniversary.
