Australian company Invictus Energy have announced that they might have discovered oil reserves in Muzarabani, Cabora Bassa Basin. Though the company is still carrying out geological tests, preliminary results positively indicate the existence of oil fields.
Invictus were exploring the same area that Mobil explored 25 years ago, and concluded that there was no oil in the area. But according to Invictus Managing Director Scott Macmillan “new processing techniques applied to the raw datasets that were not available 25 years ago are beginning to show additional structural detail in the basin that was not previously possible as indicated by the preliminary gravity processing results.”
If there is indeed oil in Muzarabani, that could potentially turn around the fortunes of our country if the government take stern measures against corruption.
