]]>In recent years, celebrities have been posting pictures of themselves with IV drips on their arms. The use of vitamin drips has been encouraged for their health benefits and the most commonly mentioned types are Jet Fuel, Myers Cocktail and Glutathione drips often used by Zimbabwean women to bleach their skin.
Jet Fuel, aptly named after its vibrant, luminous yellow color, has been used for many years as an intravenous Vitamin Drip with various and extensive health benefits.
The Borrowdale Trauma Center (in Harare Zimbabwe) also opened a Jet Fuel Drip Bar dedicated to administering these Vitamin drips. According to their website these are “natural IV therapies for various ailments and recovery”. The cost of having the drip is 150USD per session. People go to the bar to cure their hangovers, immune boosting, skin glow and other ailments.
These IV treatments are popular amongst women who bleach their skin as the trauma centre has mentioned “Bollywood Skin Glow” and “Hollywood rush” as part of their benefits. The recommended frequency is once every fortnight meaning one would need 300USD per month to see the benefits of these treatments.
Myers Cocktail (named after the late John Myers, M.D) is an infusion of multiple vitamins and minerals. This nutrient cocktail is injected into the body via IV. Kendall Jenner was hospitalized after suffering from an alleged negative reaction to the Myers Cocktail drip ahead of her appearance at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in 2018.

Are these IV treatments safe?
Dr. Sam Torbati, co-chair of Emergency Medicine at Cedars-Sinai said “For the most part, people report feeling better after these treatments because it’s a rapid way to receive hydration. If you’ve been sick or out drinking, you’re dehydrated—so hydrating will make you feel better.”
Proponents (people that advocate for the therapy say the IV drips work because they bypass the stomach and go straight into the blood stream, but that isn’t necessarily a good thing, says Dr. Torbati.”When you put something straight into the bloodstream, you bypass all of your body’s built-in safeguards and filters. You want to make sure you know exactly what’s in it.”
IV treatment has been gaining traction over the few years and it doesn’t look like the trend will die down anytime soon. People just want the fastest way to get something. The fastest way to get lighter skin. The fasted way to get over a hangover. The fastest way to get vitamins. First it was “eat more fruit”, then it was “take your vitamins” and now its “get your jet fuel”. I wonder what’s next.

Fast Fashion Industry
The fast fashion industry is responsible for mass producing clothes in response to the changing demands and trend in the market. They cater to people who want to rock the latest trends without breaking their budgets. Brands like Fashion Nova, Nike, Urban Outfitter and Forever 21 are some of the world’s most popular brands that are guilty of being labelled ‘fast fashion’.
The Evils Of Fast Fashion
According to globally trusted advisors McKinsey, 3/5 of the clothes manufactured are disposed of within a year. So just have to look at the images above to see just how much pollution that is. The pollution doesn’t begin and end with the clothes waste. Petroleum based products are used for creation of the fibers so all the processes that take place during the manufacturing of those tonnes of clothes add to the world’s pollution. 10% of the world’s population is said to come from the fast fashion industry. To put this into perspective, the $3 trillion fast fashion industry follows just behind the oil industry which is the biggest polluter.
Although various countries worldwide are said to be working together to try and reduce their carbon footprint and curb the effects of climate change, it seems like when there is a huge financial benefit attached to their pollution no one cares.
In Zimbabwe, for instance, certain mines were left to operate without changing their terrible conditions that also contributed to pollution.

]]>Paris Fashion Week 2021
The Paris Fashion Week this year began on the 28th of September and ended on the 6th of October 2021. This event has been held semi-annually since October 1973. The objective of Paris Fashion Week is to showcase what’s in season and what is definitely out. World renowned brands such as Saint-Laurent, Christian Dior, Hermes, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Luis Vuitton frequent these events. Yep, those brands some will only ever get to hear in rap songs.
Given the gravity of this event, its such an honour to be at the Paris Fashion Week and this year, the honour was all Ishmael Tsakatsa’s.
Ishmael Tsakatsa and His Work
Ishmael Tsakatsa is a Zimbabwean fashion designer. He was named Zimbabwean Designer of The Year in 2014 when his line, Zargue’sia stunned judges at the Zimbabwean Fashion Week (ZFW). This was his third year of being showcased at the ZFW. He obviously didn’t stop there as he went on to seek bigger opportunities.
At the Paris Fashion Week he showcased his artistry, with a collection which was themed “Stone of Fire”
View some of the designs from that line below:

This Stone of Fire collection is definitely fire. We wonder if we will be seeing Tsakatsa featured in Forbes like the Zimbabwean talents Kevin the Wedding Planner and business mogul Shacky Timburwa.

Check out this outfit he was purposely rocking in public and in broad daylight:

Okay okay, maybe I’ve judged this outfit too soon. Sometimes one needs to take a moment and slowly dissect the situation to really get it.
Let’s start with that golden beige broken eggshell looking hat. That’s probably a really good colour choice. Anyone know where one can buy a similar hat? Its probably custom made. Or perhaps you might remember the Roman Army from back in the day.

Perhaps this was his inspiration. In that case, bravo. Once we factor in the current economic situation and perhaps lack of resources, we’ll give him that, he tried on this one.
Let’s move on to those glasses. Well, it seems clear where the inspiration for this came from. Remember The Men in Black featuring Will Smith? The Boglodite, Boris the Animal from that film most certainly inspired those glasses. So now we’ve got Roman and Boglodite influences. Whether or not that’s a good combination, you be the judge.

Okay, so I’ll just skip the middle, because no one knows whats going on there. Let’s jump straight to the shoes.
A popular saying in the fashion space suggests that “good shoes take you places.” Can we safely say that Tocky Vibes is going nowhere very fast?
Well what are your thoughts on this fashion look?
