Following the court proceeds at the Anti-Corruption Commission in South Africa, former President Jacob Zuma was thrown behind bars. He was called to stand before the commission to be tried for the corruption and mass looting that is said to have taken place under his rule. He was then thrown behind bars for contempt of court.
This decision to throw, freedom fighter and former President Zuma has resulted in civil unrest for the nation. Mass lootings and burning of business structures is currently underway and has been going on for a period of over two weeks.
The unrest has not resulted in Zuma being freed has the masses would like. Zuma continues to serve his 15 month sentence. However, he has been granted a compassionate leave to attend his brother’s funeral. Following the funeral, he is expected back in prison.
