Excitement was at an all time high as Zimbabwe held its first ever drone conference starting on the 10th of November 2021 at the Celebration Center in Harare. The event was hosted by Precision Airlines and Drones for Good Network.
Drones and UAV Conference Zimbabwe
The Drones and UAV Conference Zimbabwe was looking into the challenges and opportunities that are present in this unmanned aerial system space. Consideration was be given to how disruptive technology can be used together with the law to revolutionize industrial operations. Although these drones bring many advantages to the nation, they also present a set of privacy, security and legal issues. These issues and how they can be curbed were in discussion at this conference.
Why We Need More Such Events
We expect those who utilize agricultural data analytics to have benefited massively from this conference. This is because of reports by bodies such as the World Economic Forum stating the role played by agricultural drones to the growth of developing countries. To further emphasise why these technological developments in agriculture could be important to the nations development, consider Billionaire Strive Masiyiwa’s sentiments on how Africa is missing out by not fully utilizing agricultural opportunities.
A podcast I’ve listened to suggested that nations still plagued by third world country problems such as hunger need to focus on food production and less on technology related innovations. This shows that in countries such as ours there is very little knowledge on what such technologies can do to advance various sectors including food production. This is were events such as these come in…to open our eyes and those of people in positions to better the nation to these innovations.
On another closely related subject, the future seems bright for disruptive technology such as this in Zimbabwe. We previously shared the story of a Zimbabwean innovator who took drones to a whole new level and is not stopping there!
