Zimbabwe is said to be at the heart to Africa’s surge into the future. This statement comes as no surprise especially given some of the technological advancements that are taking place.
One of the latest tech advances is the breakthrough in drone creation that was made by a Zimbabwean inventor. The inventor, Maxwell Sangulani Chikumbutso, has created a drone that is powered by airwaves. The unmanned drone weighs 45kg and can cruise at an altitude of 11 000 feet.
The inventor said his drone is named Saith UAV and is aimed at helping the country make an impact in the aviation and hi-tech global entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Chikumbutso, who is surprisingly self-taught, has boasted that his drone possesses some unparalleled capabilities. These include “a flying endurance pursuant to which it reaches a speed of 600km per/hr and a height over 11000 feet above sea level with a carrying capacity of 45Kgs”.
The genius is now working closely with the government and the Air Force of Zimbabwe to get clearance to begin trials.
This drone is not the first invention by the dropout. He has developed a helicopter, drone, electric cars and a green power generating machine that uses radio frequency energy.
No wonder Chikumbutso has stated that their company is one of the few African companies that are thriving in making Africa a technology-driven continent.
