A business delegation from India met up with some Zimbabwean ministers in order to discuss opportunities available to Zimbabwe. That’s not the issue. What has raised eyebrows is the fact that the images of the meet up reveal that not everyone was abiding to the Covid regulations.
The issue of wearing masks is being enforcedĀ repeatedly among Zimbabwean citizens. Police officers are usually on high alert in places like the CBD waiting on people who are not wearing masks as they should be. However, in high places, it would seem that perhaps the law is not being enforced with the same vigour.

This comes at a time where the country has reported evidence of the Indian variant of the coronavirus. The virus is considered very deadly. Zimbabwe’s Minister of Health, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga issued out the following statement in relation to the new variant:
āThe test conducted revealed that the B.1.617 variants predominantly from India was detected at the focalised outbreak in Kwekwe. The nation is therefore advised that this variant B.1. 617 is now in Zimbabweā
He continued to say the country will increase its efforts in containing the virus as they have done in the past. The recent arrival of Covid vaccines from China are expected to go a long way in aiding Zimbabwe in its fight against the virus.
