Yet another consignment of Covid-19 vaccines arrived from China. This time around the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) donated to Zimbabwe’s Defence Forces (ZDF).
Present to receive the consignments was Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs, Oppah Mushinguri-Kashiri. This is different from the previous times where the President himself went to receive the vaccines. Minister Oppah Kashiri was accompanied by ZDF Commander General Phillip Valerio Sibanda.
The consignments were collected at the Robert Mugabe Airport on Monday 17 May 2021. These included 100 000 vaccine doses and 420 000 syringes. The vaccines were handed to the Zimbabwean authorities present by Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe, Guo Shaochun. He was pleased with the donation saying it reflected the good relations between China and Zimbabwe.
