Someone’s 76 year old grandfather is said to have committed suicide after experiencing a terrible heartbreak. He was found hanging outside his house in Kuwadzana extension by his wife.
Noah Masawu, the 76 year old man in question, couldn’t take it anymore. He is said to have spoken of being neglected by his young wife (30) and his children.
Martha Shoko, the wife of now deceased Masawu, explained the rivalry that existent between him and his children. She explained to the media that his children were unhappy over his decision to marry her. Shoko was 22 years when she married then 68 year old Masawu. She revealed that the children would repeatedly tell him “baba matinyadzisa” as a result of his marriage.
As a result they allegedly stopped sending him any money for upkeep making it difficult for him to take care of his children with Shoko. Shoko decided to move to her parents home with the kids for the sake of their upkeep.
Masawu is said to have grabbed a rope and told Shoko that he was planning to hang himself. Shoko explained that she thought it was a joke but continued to tell a relative who immediately brushed the matter off. To her horror, a neighbour knocked on her door around 2pm to alert her of the sad news.
Shoko insisted that he died as a result of lack of food as his kids did not fend for him.
A neighbour, who claims to have an audio recording of the old man stated that this is closely linked to the ill-treatment that he allegedly received from his 30 year old wife. The recording is also said to allude to that reasoning.
