Imagine the emotions that women who lose their husbands to another women have to go through. However, very rarely are these woman’s feelings accounted for. But, luckily, this time they were!
In the case of Washington Matanda, his wife Ngaatendwe Matanda was furious over his decision to move out and cohabit with another lover. The smallhouse, Auxillia Muriro had three children with Ngaatendwe’s husband. One of the children is now late.
Ngaatendwe revealed that she had a tough time all her life as a result of her husband’s mistress. She spoke of the mental health implications this move had on her.
Finally, early in 2021 Ngaatendwe decided to take matters up to the courts. Fortunately this turned out well for the legal wife of Mutanda. Mutare Magistrate, Purity Gumbo ruled that the said husband snatcher must pay damages to Ngaatendwe.
The damages are for the mental distress, pain and suffering she caused to the legal wife of Mutanda. The smallhouse will be expected to pay up to US$3000 to Ngaatendwe.
People who cause others such pain don’t seem to understand the seriousness of these matters of the heart. The implications are to be paid attention to so that we avoid devastating effects like in the case of the 76 year old who committed suicide because of heartbreak.
