Yesterday, Monday the 4th of October 2021 was a tough experience globally. Facebook had shutdown all its social platforms, i.e Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram.
This shutdown or glitch, as some are calling it, came unexpectedly. The world was in a state of panic, particularly those who depend on these platforms for work related purposes. Instagram influencers couldn’t update their content, businesses that heavily rely on Facebook Advertising were on edge wondering what would become of their businesses.
Fortunately, almost 7 hours later, the platforms began to be restored progressively. Whatsapp took to their platform to share the following relieving message:

Some view this as just a mere glitch, however one theory that is quickly catching the attention of many is the Facebook former employee story.
The shutdown is said to have ironically come a day after a former employee of Facebook revealed some damning truths about the company. Francis Huagen, the whistle blower, let the world know that Facebook has been lying all along. The company’s own research is said to prove that they are in the forefront of promoting hate speech, misinformation and political unrest. In the case of Instagram, it is said to harm teenage girls.
