If Facebook Shuts Down… Again, How Can Businesses That Advertise On This Platform Protect Their Business And Continue To Advertise

Businesses were shaken and in a state of panic yesterday, Monday 4 October 2021 when Facebook Shutdown. This has made some begin to think of exploring other alternatives that aren’t dependant on the same company.

Facebook owns the social networks WhatsApp and Instagram where business also advertise heavily. Whatsapp groups are normally utilised by smaller companies while large companies usually spend a large sum to advertise on Facebook and Instagram. Imagine this; in the event that the shutdown had gone on for a much longer period, companies depending solely on these platforms would suffer. So would the millions of Instagram influencers.

Thankfully, the platforms are have now reopened, however, the future is uncertain. We don’t know how much of an impact the legal battle concerning Facebook’s so called deliberate harm to society will affect the platforms.

So as a business owner, what other online advertising opportunities can you explore? Below are a few:

  1. Other Social Platforms that aren’t affiliated to Facebook.

There are various options when it comes to social media. Platforms such as Tik Tok, Twitter, Quora, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Reddit are performing well and will be good options to explore. When choosing which platform to advertise on, it is best to consider the audiences that are prevalent on each. For instance, Tik Tok is said to have a predominantly younger demographic because of the nature of the content. However, older people are slowly getting the hang of things and joining such platforms.

LinkedIn is usually best when promoting products/services that are tailored towards a professional audience as this is a platform for professionals. You get the gist!

2. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Companies can also utilize their own websites to advertising. This method is not too costly. It involves coming up with content that is tailored to rank in Search Engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. If your content is Search Engine Optimised, it can show up on Google, Bing and Yahoo when someone simply makes a search for the service/business or offer.

3. Classifieds Ads

Classifieds Ads are ads that appear on Classifieds Websites you have chosen to invest in. Such websites will present you with different packages that can determine where your ad shows up on the site. These packages often start from “Free.”

The sites commonly have large audiences on various social media platforms that they share your content to. Ads you place on these platforms are also likely to show up on Goggle, Yahoo, Bing etc when someone searches for them.

These are just a few advertising ,methods but a good place to start nonetheless.
