After losing England pacer Mark Wood due to an elbow injury, the Lucknow Super Giants have set their sights on Zimbabwean star Blessing Muzarabani.
It is not known as yet if the 25-year-old will be joining the franchise as a replacement for Mark Wood or as a net bowler.
If Muzarabani does come into LSG as a replacement for Wood, it would be the first after 8 years that a Zimbabwean player will feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a contracted cricketer.
The last Zimbabwean to feature in the IPL was Brendan Taylor. He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and was released ahead of IPL 2015 season. Ray Price (Mumbai Indians) and Tatenda Taibu (Kolkata Knight Riders) are some of the other players from Zimbabwe who have featured in the IPL before.
Prior to Muzarabani Lucknow had set their sights on Taskin Ahmed but the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) refused to give him the NoC (No Objection Certificate) because of the national team’s upcoming assignments.
