An 18 year old Zimbabwean boy has joined the somewhat long list of nationals flying the country’s flag high. His sportsmanship and prowess on the soccer field have lead to his being recognised by large names in the space.
Leicester City FC has been home to Zimbabwe’s 18 year old Tawanda Maswanhise. Tawanda joined the club a decade ago and as reported by the Leicester City Football Club official website, LCFC.com he has grown swiftly. Last week he joined the Brendan Rodgers’ outfit on their pre-season training camp in Surrey.
In an interview with LCFC.com he expressed his appreciation for the love he has been receiving from Zimbabwean supporters. Some of the supporters are also fans of his popular athlete father, Jeffrey Maswanhise.
This is what the Club had to say bout the young soccer star:
“Having spent a decade at Leicester City, youngster Tawanda Maswanhise has undoubtedly seen the Football Club grow and develop just as swiftly as he has.”
Maswanhise attests to this growth in his career. Although he admits that training with the first team has been challenging, he says he is managing and his resilience is helping him improve day by day.
There has been a number of Zimbabweans who have represented the nation in this manner. For instance, the first ever Zimbabwean to be elected in the ICC Hall of Fame was selected this year.
