A Chipinge man was reportedly assaulted with sticks until he died. His offence was that of stealing a dog from a local man identified only as Chimene. However, the dog is still alive.
The deceased, Lucky Tsegure, is said to have stolen the dog sometime before Tuesday. He sold the dog to another local man named, Clement Chibvepi. The issue came to light when the dog owner was drinking beer with the dog buyer at Ndambi homestead. Chibvepi claimed to not be aware of the fact that he had bought a stolen dog. He revealed that Tsegure had sold it to him.
The two, alongside Chibvepi’s brother came across dog thief Tsegure and beat him with sticks and fists until he died.
The body was dragged to 3km away to Budzi River where the police found the body the following morning. The offenders are still to be caught.
Tsegure’s body was taken to Chipinge District Hospital for a post mortem.
This is not the first murder case that has taken place in a period of just two months. We’ve covered the issue of two prophetesses who were accused of murdering someone who sought out their help. Another one took place as a result of a fight over someone’s wife.
