The Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) has once again hiked fares for its urban routes. ZUPCO just like many other companies as well as State institutions are pegging their fares to the United States Dollar parallel market rate.
The new fares come into effect on the 16th of February 2022.
The fare hike is likely not going to do away with the long queues, the commuting public has to endure on a daily basis since the government banned private players.
Kombi fares have been reviewed from ZWL$80 to ZWL$100 and bus fares have been increased to ZWL$80 to ZWL$50.
Below of the full fare schedule of the new fares.
ZUPCO drivers were earlier this month on strike citing poor remuneration, a situation that saw many of the travelling masses stranded with some resorting to pirate taxis also known as Mushika-shika.
Is it high time the government re-introduced kombis, what do you think?
