People have been dissatisfied with Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA)’s service delivery. Load shedding has increased recently and people have been told to brace themselves for more power cuts.
President Mnangagwa commissioned 200 transformers and 117 vehicles procured by ZESA Holdings in Harare yesterday. It was at that event that he directed the Minister of Energy and Power Development to stop load shedding within the next two to three years.
One of the measures taken to ensure that this goal is attainable, is the Hwange Power Station Expansion. The project was launched in 2018 by President Mnangagwa. It is expected to add 600MW on the national grid.
President Mnangagwa said the Second Republic was committed to support Zesa Holdings through the Hwange Power Station Expansion Project, coupled with the ongoing resourcing and recapitalisation of Zesa Enterprises (ZENT), to ensure adequate supply of transformers and other associated requirements.
