Football star Kurt Zouma has been having what probably is the worst week of his career. This comes after a video of him slapping and kicking one of his cats was released on Snapchat by his brother.

So far, Kurt has had to pay a £250,000 fine to his club and his cats have been seized by the RSPCA. He could also potentially face four years in jail. There is also a petition online with almost 300,000 signatures which asks ‘the Metropolitan Police and RSPCA carry out an urgent investigation and prosecute the perpetrators of this heinous act’

Adidas has since cancelled his contract worth £100,000 a year. At this point a lot of people feel he has had too many penalties on his head and they have taken to twitter to start a #boycottadidas movement. Many other fans have also added he phrase “I stand with Kurt”.

Adidas has sponsored many athletes over the years including footballers like Paul Pogba, Toni Kroos, Leo Messi and Mo Salah. in the USA, Adidas has built much of its name though associating with black superstars. Popular black athletes and entertainers like James Harden, Candace Parker and Kanye West endorse its products. Adidas also has a partnership with Beyonce Knowles.

Although Adidas publicly supports black superstars, some of its black workers spoke out to The New York Times about the unfriendly work environment. Black employees at the company’s North American headquarters in Portland describe a workplace culture that contradicts the brand’s image. Workers described feeling marginalized and sometimes discriminated against.

By boycotting Adidas, people aim to show their disgruntlement with the sportswear manufacturing giant. Although it may seem like Kurt is being penalized for the actions in his video, bigger forces are at play. Racism continues to penetrate through societies despite efforts made to raise awareness and educate the general public. And it is something that Kurt and many other superstars  put up with throughout their careers.

Foolishness is trying the same thing over again and expecting different results, this statement holds true for the Zimbabwe Warriors, which are fast becoming another Arsenal.

The Zimbabwe football squad under the Croatian, Zdravko Logarusic is showing no signs of improvement even with big names like Marshall Munetsi, Khama Billiat and prolific striker Knowledge Musona, granted we were missing Marvelous Nakamba.

With the introduction of Benjani Mwaruwari as Assistant Coach, fans were expectant of some improvement but nothing has changed, although in all fairness ‘Loga’ has the last say.

Despite ZIFA offering a US$64 000 winning bonus for the Warriors we still succumbed to the perceived weakest link in the Group G, Ethiopia.

Zimbabwe is currently siting at the bottom of the table in Group G, which is widely regarded as an easy group. Zimbabwe is now expected to face Ghana which is no push-over.

Current 2022 World Cup Qualifiers Group G Standings

The big question is, is Zdravko Logarusic the right man for the job?

In the past 14 games, he has only managed 1 Win, 8 Draws and 5 Defeats, and just to put it into perspective Egypt has sacked their coach Hossam El Badry for drawing to  Gabon, he has 5 wins and 4 draws in his past 9 matches.

Following the loss to Ethiopia in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers Loga didn’t even take responsibility but he rather apportioned the blame to the referees and the players, sounds like Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta and look where they are.

In my opinion ZIFA has no choice but to sack Loga before it gets worse, what do you think?

Manchester United fans are surely in for a treat from Chritiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese footballer  who recently made a shock move from Juventus to his former club Manchester United, has issued his first statement at the club.

Writing on his Facebook page Christiano had this to say:

Everyone who knows me, knows about my never ending love for Manchester United. The years I spent in this club where absolutely amazing and the path we’ve made together is written in gold letters in the history of this great and amazing institution.

I can’t even start to explain my feelings right now, as I see my return to Old Trafford announced worldwide. It’s like a dream come true, after all the times that I went back to play against Man. United, and even as an opponent, to have always felt such love and respect from the supporters in the stands. This is absolutely 100% the stuff that dreams are made of!

My first domestic League, my first Cup, my first call to the Portuguese National team, my first Champions League, my first Golden Boot and my first Ballon d’Or, they were all born from this special connection between me and the Red Devils. History has been written in the past and history will be written once again! You have my word!

I’m right here!
I’m back where I belong!
Let’s make it happen once again!

PS – Sir Alex, this one is for you…

An 18 year old Zimbabwean boy has joined the somewhat long list of nationals flying the country’s flag high. His sportsmanship and prowess on the soccer field have lead to his being recognised by large names in the space.

Leicester City FC has been home to Zimbabwe’s 18 year old Tawanda Maswanhise. Tawanda joined the club a decade ago and as reported by the  Leicester City Football Club official website, LCFC.com  he has grown swiftly. Last week he joined the Brendan Rodgers’ outfit on their pre-season training camp in Surrey.

In an interview with LCFC.com he expressed his appreciation for the love he has been receiving from Zimbabwean supporters. Some of the supporters are also fans of his popular athlete father, Jeffrey Maswanhise.

This is what the Club had to say bout the young soccer star:

“Having spent a decade at Leicester City, youngster Tawanda Maswanhise has undoubtedly seen the Football Club grow and develop just as swiftly as he has.”

Maswanhise attests to this growth in his career. Although he admits that training with the first team has been challenging, he says he is managing and his resilience is helping him improve day by day.

There has been a number of Zimbabweans who have represented the nation in this manner. For instance, the first ever Zimbabwean to be elected in the ICC Hall of Fame was selected this year.
