]]>Now that we are on the same page with regards to what the ICC is, let’s talk about an issue that has stirred some emotions on social media. A particular, Mark Patrick Themann took to social media to encourage people to sign a petition to have Zimbabwe’s president tried by the ICC.

The views on this matter are varied. Zimbabweans in the Matebeleland seem to support the idea behind this petition. They have been clear about their views with regards to the country’s leadership. These views have even lead them to act in a way that other nationals deem as sabotaging the 2023 election results.
It almost goes without question that the white people that were largely affected by the change in regime might rally behind this. The leadership issue is still very much of a touchy subject for them. Several years after independence and we still find those that were affected by policies such as the land reform program, cried out to be compensated.
Other citizens were downright displeased by this move. View some of their comments below:

However, one would wonder whether this petition isn’t jumping the bullet too soon. This view is based on some of the measures being put in place to amend past mistakes. They include the compensation that has already begun to be paid to white farmers.
The President is also said to preparing for a trip to the UK. The trip is said to be aimed at amending the sour relations between the nation. Perhaps the petition won’t be necessary after all.
