]]>You might recall that this is the same minister that went undercover to the passport office which resulted in one tout getting arrested and as we speak he is already serving time for touting.
The minister announced the measures below;

To facilitate movement to and from work people will be allowed to travel between 0600hrs to 1000hrs in the morning and between 1530hrs and 1800hrs after which the curfew will kick in. In between 1000hrs and 1530hrs police will continue to enforce the lockdown regulations
It looks like if you are going to get into town after 10am you might face challenges, this announcement also coincides with the huge traffic jam that occurred in Chitungwiza this morning, where motorists were told to go back home by law enforcement.
Covid-19 cases are on the upward trend of late, and there are some bodies that are already calling for a total lockdown.
Whether this materializes, time will tell.

]]>One such tout, Nicholas Chogugudza, appeared before the courts and has been given a 20 months sentence. Chogugudza claimed to have been in the business of collecting bribes on behalf of passport office employees.
Harare regional magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje emphasised the need to continue carrying out investigations at the passport office as a result of the high levels of corrupt activities there.
Chogugudza was tried alongside Prisca Moyo, an official from the passport office, who was being prosecuted for the same charges and criminal abuse of office. Bail was denied as there is said to be a high risk of interference with witnesses.
Investigations are underway, however the police admit to facing challenges along the way.

]]>He stood in the queue along with others who were waiting to be served and no one was able to recognise him. This was probably why an unsuspecting individual approached him offering to take him to the front of the queue if he paid US$30. The man was caught on the wrong side of the law and will be awaiting the appropriate disciplinary measures.
No doubt this will serve as a lesson for the vast amounts of people carrying out corrupt businesses at the passport offices.

The corruption and scandals at the passport offices was really getting of hand. Just a month ago a scandal in which there was misinformation concerning the release of passports lead people to travel from all over the country to queue for nothing. Swindlers, much like the one caught by Kazembe were quick to take advantage of that situation and promised to offer help to desperate passport seekers after payment.
