The post Hakainde Hichilema shares historical and ideological similarities to us says Zanu PF appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>The ruling Zanu PF party on the other hand is now also claiming Hakainde Hichilema, in a post on one of their Facebook page named EDhasmyhope the ruling party says Hakainde Hichilema’s UPND party is similar to Zanu PF, than the outgoing Patriotic Front, the irony!
Below is their full statement;
HH contested Presidential Election 6 times and Wamba Brigade is not aware of that
What Wamba Brigade, dont know is that historically and ideologically speaking, Lungu’s party is the real MDC of Zambia although both Lungu’s party and Hichilema’s UPND are splinter parties of Chiluba’s MMD, Hichilema’s party has the closest links with Kaunda’s UNIP as a lot of leaders who served under Kaunda joined hands with Hichilema’s party. In 2006 for example, UNIP and other opposition parties fielded Hichilema as their presidential candidate. So UPND, the party of Hichilema, is the one that can be said to share historical and ideological similarities with Zanu PF.However the major observation with Zambian politics if compared to politics in the rest of SADC, is that it is the only country alongside Malawi that have seen their founding independent ruling parties being dislodged from power several times. Kaunda first lost it to the party of Lungu, then led by Chiluba. At one time, albeit inside a coalition UNIP won back the power and lost it again when Lungu came to power. However the disappearance of UNIP from the Zambian political turf today can be attributed to the personalisation of leadership of the UNIP presidency to the Kaundas as KK’s son stuck to the helm of that party among many other reasons. As for the second republic in Zimbabwe, those in the know are aware how Lungu tried to entertain the idea of militarily coming to the rescue of RG following the November 2017 transition in Zimbabwe. However he later abandoned the idea after noticing that the caucus for liberation war parties of Southern Africa were fully behind the coup that was not a coup depending on one’s persuasion.
In my view, in so far as the Zambian threat is concerned, the second republic in Zimbabwe will welcome the victory of Hichilema.

]]>The part did however not rule out the possibility of coming together. The nation has been plunged into election fever following the victory of Mr Hakainde Hichilema’s win in the Zambian Presidential elections held on the 12th of August 2021.
Below is the full statement from APA
Fake News Alert.
The report circulating on social media about APA discussing coalitions purportedly through an interview with Nehanda is false and quite sadly, indicative of how far our country has fallen.
APA has not had any interview with any media outlet on the subject of coalitions with any political party.
We are under no illusions as to the gravity of the task ahead to build Zimbabwe. It requires all citizens to work together guided by the right values.
The majority of voting Zimbabweans do not belong to any political organization and this silent majority made up mostly of the young people has to step up and own the struggle like the Zambian youth did. They moved the agenda through their friends and family circles like we have insisted we should all do since 2017. The winning candidate hardly held any rallies. But through family and friends, complemented by social media spaces, they achieved the change they desired.
Let us all embrace the People’s Agenda for 2023 and vote for Alliance for the People’s Agenda candidates.

]]>The post MDC Alliance duo Joanna Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri FINALLY granted bail appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Yesterday the bail ruling was postponed as Judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi is said to have succumbed to a toothache. Fortunately for the MDC duo, the ruling was favourable. They were finally granted bail of $20 000 each. However, the Judge made it a point to express the distastefulness of the duo’s behaviour during court proceedings. He said their conduct was “testing the court’s patience.”
It has been a roller-coaster of a ride for the two MDC Alliance females. For instance, Joanna Mamombe is reported to have appeared in court 129 times over a period of just 12 months. Each of these times she was denied bail. In addition, she experienced challenges related to her own ailments while in prison.
Both ladies were also caught up in a heated brawl with the police over their leaked nudes in March 2021. They slapped Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe and police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga with a lawsuit of $15 million for allegedly circulating the nudes.
So this bail ruling must have come as a huge relief to them.

]]>The Harare High Court’s Justice Tawanda Chitapi postponed the ruling on bail of the two MDC Alliance politicians. The reason for postponing is said to be that the judge is currently experiencing a toothache. It is reported that this is the second time this ruling has been postponed.
During the 45 plus days in Chikurubi prison, Joanna Mamombe had to be rushed to the hospital. We discussed this issue in a previous article you can read here.

According to the High Court, the man who initiated the recall, Mr Benjamin Rukanda was in fact not a member of the PDP.
Tendai Biti is notably once of the more vocal members of parliament in opposition ranks, analysts believe that is why he was targeted.

]]>This decision was made possible on Thursday by a ruling by the High Court judge, Justice Sylvia Chirawu-Mugomba. The ruling stated that the PDP faction led by Lucia Matibenga had the power to recall the party’s MPs and councilors who have joined the post-election MDC Alliance.
Some parliamentarians were displeased with this decision. Among the displeased is Harare Mayor, Jacob Mafume, a part of the PDP faction. Mafume told th emedia that they had since appealed against the High Court ruling at the Supreme Court.
Tendai Biti was not the only member to be recalled. He was accompanied out of parliament by Hon William Madzimure(Kambuzuma), Hon Settlement Chikwinya(Mbizo), Hon Regai Tsunga (Mutasa South Constituency), and Hon Phulu Kucaca (Nkulumane).

]]>The post Chamisa deals with arrest threats head on appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>As some MDC supporters had predicted, there was an alleged attempt by the ruling party to arrest Chamisa following his utterances at the virtual gathering. Chamisa did not conceal his intend to expose and deal with all bad governance policies that he pointed out have seemingly become the norm.
He was said to have been detained at Rhodesville Police Station in Harare as a result of his bravado, freeness of speech and call for a united Zimbabwe at the ‘Agenda 2021’ virtual meet.
However, Nelson Chamisa i said to have refuted these claims. In an interview with News Zimbabwe Chamisa said the following:
“The call for unity must never unsettle anyone because great nations thrive on the pillars of the unity. United citizens are the fuel which can deal with the problems and challenges our great nation”
“Zanu PF must not scared of my clarion call for convergence. I am not beating drums of war. I am just calling for unity. Great nations are built on unity. Zimbabwe does not need a partisanship leadership anymore. Yes, you may be Commander-in-Chief constitutionally, but the country now needs a Father-in-Chief,” he said in reference to President Emmerson Mnangangwa.
In reference to the current economic situation, he said,
“Honestly claims that the economy i son a rebound and even declaring (cash) surpluses cannot hold when every citizen has evidence of a collapsing economy.Recovery is not an expression of letters in the newspaper but a felt experience”
