]]>He stood in the queue along with others who were waiting to be served and no one was able to recognise him. This was probably why an unsuspecting individual approached him offering to take him to the front of the queue if he paid US$30. The man was caught on the wrong side of the law and will be awaiting the appropriate disciplinary measures.
No doubt this will serve as a lesson for the vast amounts of people carrying out corrupt businesses at the passport offices.

The corruption and scandals at the passport offices was really getting of hand. Just a month ago a scandal in which there was misinformation concerning the release of passports lead people to travel from all over the country to queue for nothing. Swindlers, much like the one caught by Kazembe were quick to take advantage of that situation and promised to offer help to desperate passport seekers after payment.

]]>If the words of the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Ambassador Cain Mathema are anything to go by Zimbabweans will ‘soon’ be able to get a passport within 4 weeks, the Minister was speaking during a familiarization tour of the Registrar-General’s Central Registry in Harare.
The Minister also mentioned that he had spoken to the new Registrar-General (Mr Clemence Masango), who assured him that there is now a work plan in place to clear the backlog within the shortest possible time and bring passport production to within normal timelines.
So fingers crossed we should all start receiving our documents in a timely manner.
