The post ZRP Blitz Targets People With Open View (OVHD) Decoders appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>Many people in Zimbabwe rely on Open View decoders for good content. They buy it once and they do not pay any subscription to keep it connected. This contravenes customs, trademark and copyright laws.
Raids and seizures are set to continue across the SADC region as they clamp down on content piracy. The Open View decoders air shows made by the SABC and eMedia in South Africa. The content made on the shows is intended for South African viewers and anyone else from outside South Africa that uses them is committing a crime.
The COO of Openview parent company eMedia Antonio Lee has applauded the ZRP saying that Zimbabweans should support local content and stop buying South African decoders. He said that anyone that purchases the Open View decoder in Zimbabwe is robbing the country of customs duty.
Further raids and investigations can be expected as 1094 records of Open View serial numbers were also confiscated during the raids. Lee also said that having the decoder in your home means you can also be arrested at any time as it is considered a serious offence.
Lee also said smuggled decoders will be disconnected from now on and people stand to run a loss if they buy illegal decoders and they are disconnected because of the criminal act.

]]>The post CVR To Introduce New Plastic License Disc appeared first on Provoker Magazine.
]]>The government has been facing challenges with issuing metal license discs in recent years with a backlog that goes back as far as 2018. Some people that passed their driving tests back in 2018 have not yet received their license disks.
Most of the raw materials used in processing the metal license discs like, metal photo plates, a special dye, a fixer and a developer have to be sourced from the United States. The old manual machine used in the production process can only produce 48 licenses in one go and it always breaks down worsening the already desperate situation.
In their tweet, the Ministry of Transport said;
“The proposed new disc is compliant with the COMESA, EAC and SADC Tripartite region. We urge our valued citizens to bear with us in our transition from the old to the new SADC compliant driver’s license disc. This process is expected to be completed by end of June 2022”
Hopefully, this development will help alleviate the situation. There has been a problem with citizens securing important identification documents like passports and IDs because of the old systems used by the government to produce them. The shift to e-passports has been positive so far and hopefully, the shift to plastic license discs will be the same.

]]>The Zimbabwean government has since taken a serious approach to combating the corona virus. One of the measures taken is putting in place a goal of vaccinating 60% of the population in order to reach herd immunity. Aiding in the achievement of this goal is the various donations of the Covid-19 vaccines from India and China. The latest consignment of vaccines was received on Monday 17th of May. We reported on that matter in this article.
According to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Addis Ababa-based , Zimbabwe has procured vaccines for almost 900 000 people. All other Southern African countries are yet to reach this figure.
The President of Zimbabwe, Mnangagwa has expressed that the focus on vaccinating as many people as possible will make the country safe and allow for safe tourism. Tourism is one of the economy drivers and its restoration, as stated by the President, will allow fast economic growth to take place.
Some countries seem to have slowed down in their vaccination efforts as a result of various alleged side effects that have been reported. Here is a list of countries were vaccines were deferred.

]]>The reason for this Summit is to discuss the security system in Mozambique. This concern arouse from the acts of terrorism perpetrated against innocent civilians, women and children in some districts of Cabo Delgado Province of Mozambique. SADC leaders are using this to affirm their commitment to contribute towards bringing lasting peace and security to the region.
South African president, Ramaphosa will be standing in front of the Zondo Commission to give testimony to the corruption and mass looting that took place during the period he was Vice President under Zuma. As a result he could not be in attendance and this was one of the reasons that facilitated the need to postpone the meeting. Ramaphosa is the incoming Chairperson for this meeting.
Another reason for the Summit date being pushed back is the absence of the Chairperson, His Excellency President Mokgweesti Eric Keabetswe. As the meeting could not take place without this two key figures it was inevitably moved to a later date.
