]]> It is almost common knowledge that those that want to set out on the entrepreneurial journey need to identify a gap in the market. However, the most common problem that limits entrepreneurs is that they overly complicate things and seek out difficult problems to solve when starting out. As the old adage states, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Maximos Kwenda took a very simple problem and decided to solve it. He noticed that many people love sugarcane but do not like the process of peeling its tough skin. So he decided to start a business that addresses that problem by selling already peeled and neatly sliced sugarcane.

Kwenda already supplies 8 outlets in Harare.

Some Zimbabwean are certainly rising above the restraints posed by the country’s economy and creating sustainable businesses. One such citizen was retrenched from his senior manager position at Econet and started a seedling company that now employs 100+ people in the space of 5 years.
