]]>On October 4 2021, Facebook, which is the holding company of Whatsapp and Instagram shutdown these applications. Although they did not comment on the reasons for the shutdown, it suspiciously took place when the whistle-blower was interviewed.
One thing became clearer to Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerburg and his team, the world is very depended on their communications. According to a social media post by Zuckerburg, they were very humbled and appreciative of all their users. However, they have revealed the other beloved users that will be shut out of the app.
Whatsapp Will Not Be Working On The Following Phones
Starting from the 1st of November 2021, Whatsapp will not work or be downloadable on these phones;

Reason For This Change
The application will reportedly not be accommodating users with dated phones in a bid to keep the app secure. Should these users want to continue enjoying using Whatsapp they will now have to update their Android or iOS versions to at least 4.1 .
Older iOS or Android versions are often riddled with holes in their security. The purpose of an update is to present a version that has fixed any security issues present in the older versions. Therefore, the use of an older version proves to be a security risk, no wonder why Whatsapp is phasing out their support for these risk threats.
In short, time to finally update that phone.

]]>This announcement was made by Victoria Grand, vice president for policy and communications at WhatsApp at an event in Jarkata.
She also announced that the change will be made immediately, which means if users update their WhatsApp, they will only be able to forward a message up to 5 times, down from the initial 20 times.
WhatsApp is one of the social media media platforms that has been blocked by the Zimbabwean government as they allege that it was responsible for fanning the recent fuel price hike protests.
